This is the voting booth for the NSwiki logo. Please read carefully the voting instructions before casting your vote. The NSwiki logo will be decided using an [[Wikipedia:Cloneproof Schwartz Sequential Dropping|Cloneproof Schwartz Sequential Dropping]] system, meaning that if there is a candidate who is preferred over the other candidates, when compared in turn with each of the others, we guarantee that that candidate will win.

Voting opens at '''21:00, 7 Nov 2004 (GMT)''' and closes exactly one week from that time, at '''21:00, 14 Nov 2004 (GMT)'''. These times correspond to 16:00, 7 Nov 2004 (EST) and 16:00, 14 Nov 2004 (EST). Although editing may be possible before and after these times, any votes cast outside of this voting period will be disregarded. For reference, the current time is {{CURRENTTIME}}, {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC).

== Instructions ==

To cast your vote, please click [http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php?title=NSwiki:Logo_candidates/Vote&action=edit&section=new here], put ~<nowiki>~~</nowiki>~ in the subject header, and copy the following text into the box:

<nowiki>#</nowiki>

<nowiki>#</nowiki>

<nowiki>#</nowiki>

<nowiki>#</nowiki>

<nowiki>#</nowiki>

Please place the number of the logos you favor in order of preference from your first choice to your last choice next to the "#" symbols.

Be sure that you are logged in when voting, as votes that are from IP address will be discounted.

If you wish to change your vote, please follow the same procedure to cast a new ballot. [[User:Goobergunch|Goobergunch]]|[[User talk:Goobergunch|?]] will remove your earlier ballot, but please do not do so yourself.

You do not have to include all candidates while voting. If you omit candidates, however, these candidates will be ranked by the tabulation software "as equal to one another, but lesser than all listed candidates."

The votes will be tallied following the closure of the vote using [http://vote.sourceforge.net/ VoteEngine].
Thanks Goobergunch for cleaning up our region page!
[[User:Balligomingo|Balli]]

Not sure who added the link to the NSEconomy Regional Calculator. The change doesn't show up on the history. It might have been a script run against the database since I see the link on the site a lot.

The problem is the Calculator no longer takes a regional name parameter so none of these links are going to work correctly.
[[User:Balligomingo|Balli]]

:The change was made to the [[Template:Infobox_Region]], so implementation was global. It seems to work fine on all regions except the ones that have always been too big. We're using a variable we just located called <nowiki>{{PAGENAMEE}}</nowiki> ({{PAGENAMEE}}) which passes along the the name with spaces parsed into underscores. We already knew about variable <nowiki>{{PAGENAME}}</nowiki> ({{PAGENAME}}) which passed the standard pagename with spaces, but we knew that wouldn't work on the NSEconomy calculator. We're using the same paired variables to auto-generate the Region and Nation URLs, and it works like a charm! [[User:Frisbeeteria|→ ''Frisbeeteria'']] [[User talk:Frisbeeteria|Θtalk]] 15:35, 21 Oct 2004 (GMT)

You are so correct. I should have tested the link before opening my mouth. (although hearing the details is interesting). I was speaking from my experience of manually loading URLs with no knowledge of the XML variables. Thanks for the info.
The [[World Factbook Entry]] for '''A Nice Warm Cave''' reads as follows:

The hideaway was in a bluff overlooking the stream... The cave was formed by an overhang of limestone which roofed a room water-carved from shale in one bluff... "Why not stay and camp out with us?"

I live in the Mid-Atlantic section of the US. I like art, music, science, history and fine wines. My sports interests are limited to the Eagles. I run a little non-NS forum (some members are from NS), for discussing issues of the day: [http://s3.invisionfree.com/Glass_Bead_Game/index.php? Glass Bead Game]

'''Books on my nightstand right now:'''
Just finished "The Complete Sherlock Holmes Vol. 1". I like the old English mysteries the best. Currently reading Carl Segan's "The Daemon Haunted World". The book is about how science overcomes superstition.

'''TV shows I'm not ashamed to admit I watch:'''
The main two shows I like are: [http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi/main.shtml CSI] which adds a little science with the murder mystery and [http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3032608/ Meet the Press] mostly because I think Tim Russert is one of the best interviewers around.

'''Movies I love so much I've watched them more than twice:'''
My all time favorite movie is "2001: A Space Odyssey". Dave: "Open the pod-bay doors Hal." Hal: "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that." It may be that I really like this movie, more than most, because I read the book first.

'''Web sites I visit regularly:'''
[http://news.bbc.co.uk/ BBC] Still the best news source.
[http://www.drudgereport.com/ drudgereport] Yes Drudge is an attention whore but he does tend to get things posted first.

'''Favorite type of music:'''
I like music of all kinds. With the exception of opera, mostly because it's too much work to get into. My favorite is guitar-oriented rock, power-pop in particular. Throw in a little politics or social commentary (like say early Gang of Four) that's the kind of stuff I can't get enough of.

'''First album (disc) I ever bought:'''
The first album I bought was the Beatle's Yellow Submarine. Not their best but it was where I started. Of course, I long ago bought all their other releases.

'''Recording I play when my soul needs a lift:'''
There are so many songs that make be feel good. For rocking out there's nothing like the Beatle's version of "Money" or the first Pretenders album. But if I'm feeling down Caravan's "Nine Feet Underground" can always lift me up.

'''Favorite piece of art that I've seen in person:'''
This is tough to limit to just one so I'm going with what comes to mind first and that is George Seurat's http://www.artunframed.com/images/reynolds55/seurat18.jpg Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte

'''Living person I'd most like to join for dinner and conversation:'''
Because of his approach to art I'd love to get to talk with Brian Eno.

'''One place I've never been to that I'd like to visit:'''
[http://www.louvre.fr/louvrea.htm The Louvre] in Paris. I'm sure I could spend a whole month there and just be getting started.

'''One law that I'd like to see enacted is:'''
The first law I'd pass if I was put in charge; is to place a time limit on all laws and regulations. I would much rather that law makers be spending most of their time reviewing regulations up for renewal rather than cranking out new laws.
Balligomingohttp://archive.nswiki.org/index.php?title=User:BalligomingoUser:Balligomingo2004-10-07T21:04:25Z
Balligomingo:
