In order to provide fuel, ammunition and other stores for naval and amphibious missions, the Naval Service of the Community Defence Forces builds nine supply ships for each one hundred million population of Sober Thought.
Those in the first batch are named X-3 through X-12, second X-15 through X-24, etc., because the X- for Auxiliary designation is shared with the small craft tenders who provide the similar service but only for mine layer/sweepers and fast patrol boats.
Although they are warships, they are practically defenceless so they are never used alone and always have an escort like cruisers, destroyers and frigates.
