Area and boundaries

Gruenberg occupies a central position in the geography of eastern Malibu Islands, sharing borders with Periusistan, Gurglestan, Kinessra and New Greater Tibet, and possessing coastlines on the bays of Abzhan-Rejak and Solitude.

Maritime claims Gruenberg claims 20 kilometre zones in the bays of Abzhan-Rejak and Solitude, in accordance with the provisions of UN Resolution #74, The Law of the Sea. Attempts were made to extend these claims substantially in the light of legal aide to the Gruenberger Office of UN Affairs Lori Jiffjeff's controversial interpretation of the resolution; however, these were challenged by various nations, and after a humiliating military defeat, Gruenberg renounced its extended claims.

Climate

Gruenberg has a fairly diverse climate. Naffarron is generally temperate, and the Gelzien Nub subtropical, but there is substantial regional variation. There are three broad seasons: a hot spring runs from Turning Day to late Wrasch; the summer monsoon season then typically lasts into Syara; the rest of the year falls into a cold winter.

Naffarron temperatures range from winter lows of 0° C to summer highs in excess of 40° C. During the height of summer, temperatures of over 50° C have been recorded, resulting in extreme discomfort for the populace and, in a few cases, death. Coastal temperatures, and those in the Gelzien Nub, tend to be more moderate, rarely dipping below 10° C in the winter, and seldom passing 35° C in the summer. However, summer brings extreme humidity, often in excess of 90%.

Rainfall in Naffarron is generally low, and concentrated in the summer months. Annual rainfall is generally in the region of 300 millimetres, although it is significantly lower in the far north, and far south. A small amount of precipitation falls as sleet or hail, and as snow in the mountains. The Gelzien Nub by contrast experiences extremely high rainfall. Typical annual measurements are of over 3,000 millimetres. The vast majority of this is confined to the monsoon season.

• Winds: Seasonal - severe cyclone risk.

ENVIRONMENTAL AGREEMENTS: At present, Gruenberg has not signed or entered into any international agreements addressing environmental concerns. It is however subject to UN legislation, including Resolutions #11, #13, #15, #18, #23, #34, #35, #37, #39, #48, #52, #58, #66, #70, #71, #72, #74, #85, #106, #116, #119 and #122.
