This battle is known as the most important of the Holy Purge Years. Without the Shakal victory the entire country would be totally different. Zalord camped his men 10km out of the city for the first months after the initial engagements. The city was surrounded and bombarded daily. In June a sortie was made, but the Shakal riders contained it using speed to there advamtage reaching the gate they were leaving while only half were outside the city.

In October Zalord lured out a large prtion of the Daranan army, some 30 000 men, and had them all killed. As civilians moved to the city the Shakal killed them and hurled there bodies over the walls. The Shakal attacked using terror and phycology over force.

In December the Shakal fully encircled the city and attacked without going over the walls. Casualties were light, then Zalord left the south gate open. The civilians numbering almost a million left the city. They were guarded by some 50 000 Daranan soldiers. The Shakal attacked and killed the entire civilian populace as it left. The remaining civilians watched as more than half the cities populace was killed and there bodies were cast back into the city. The defenders surrendered hoping for mercy, only the children were spared.
