Esperanto is a synthetic language created around the turn of the 20th century by a Russian Pole, alias Doktor Esperanto (one who hopes), to aid in international communication and peace.

Its spelling is invariable, its grammar is simple and its vocabulary is closely adapted from Indo-European roots. E.g., "lakto" is the subject noun for "milk", "lakton" is the object noun, etc. This makes it a natural choice for the NationStates game.

See the full Wikipedia entry for more real world details. There is also an entire Esperanto-language Wikipedia.

This is the place for the various languages spoken in the NS world, both RL-based languages and languages created especially for the game.

If YourNation speaks YourNationian and that's all you know about it, it's probably better to add that to your nation page than to create an article here. On the other hand, if you've defined a language or adapted a dialect, tell us all about it.
