Kastiya is the capitol of Terra Matsu, located in the eastern part of the province of Teri Mata. The population as of 2030 was approximately 15,809,371 people. The Kastiya region has a population of approximately 22,019,501. The mayor of the city today (2032) is Kretsi Syanca.

As with other capital cities, the word Kastiya is also used to refer to the country's federal government, especially as opposed to provincial or municipal authorities.

Geography

Kastiya sits on the northern end of the eastern island. Home to great wonders of Greek and Roman architecture, and Gothic styles, the vast amount of information on the government and, to a bit lesser extent, the life of Matsui past. Kastiya is home to the largest government complex among all of the city and provincial governmental complexes.

The Kastiya urban area extends for considerable distance on any distance from the centre. Around the city is an extensive greenbelt, administered by the National Capitol Commission for conservation and leisure, and comprising mostly forest and marshland. A number of satellite towns and rural communities lie beyond the greenbelt, but are administratively part of the Kastiya municipality.

Transportation

Kastiya is served by SBT Rail, by Loriatki-Namsen International Airport, and by a number of bus companies.

Kastiya's main mass transit company is known as Vakumatsi Transportation. The bus transit system includes the Atobasenken, a network of mostly grade-separated, extremely high-frequency, reserved bus rapid transit lanes with full stations instead of stops. There is also a MAGLEV system called Magni.

Notable buildings and institutions

Some of the notable buildings in Kastiya include the Parliament Buildings, where Terra Matsu's government resides; the home of the President of Terra Matsu; and Kelnis Hall, the home of the Teri Mata Governor. Kastiya also has many museums, including the National Gallery of Terra Matsu, Matsui War Remembrance, Terra Matsu Science and Technology Museum, and Matsui Museum of Nature. Kastiya is also the home of the University of Terra Matsu (UTM), Teri Mata University (TMU), and Pernans County College (PCC).

Kastiya is served by Loriatki-Namsen International Airport. All federal buildings and lands are managed by the Kastiya Capitol Commission an organisation that has a great deal of power over the city.

  • Terra Matsu Day is one of Kastiya's most important holidays, and people from across the nation visit to celebrate the nation's birthday.

History

The Kastiyai region was long home to First Nations peoples. The first Germanic settlement in the Kastiya region was that of Nortman Artenhít who started a community 1031. Artenhít discovered that logging was possible and Kastiya was soon booming based almost entirely off of timber. The city was incorporated not long after in 1040 as Kastiya.

On 21 October, 1045, King Filipe Othar, arbitrarily decided to move the capitol of Terra Matsu from Hertberg to Kastiya. It is not known exactly why he decided this, yet it was done all the same.

Demographics

According to the 2030 Setai aer Matsu census, there are 15,809,371 people, 608,910 households, and 403,401 families residing in the city.

The lingustic makeup (mother tongue) of the city is 41.7% Matsui, 12.7% German, 11.9% French, 11.8% Russian, 10.2% Greek, 4.8% English, 2.1% Japanese, 1.7% Spanish, 1.5% Latin, 1.1 Korean, and .5% other.

In the city the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 19, 6.9% from 20 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36.7 years. For every 100 females there are 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.1 males.
