"Mr C's tablecloth"
Kuruiflagsmud.jpg
What? National Flag of Kurui- Officially the "Kazan Ensign". Unofficially "Mr C's tablecloth"
Why? Ever seen a state of address or international press conference or summit without national flags?
Features Extreme flammability
Predominance All over the country - on flagpoles outside ministries, on the wall of patriot's bedrooms, in crates in "Boba Taka's liberty shop o' protest stuff" next to the lighters and naptha.

The Kazan Ensign was adopted as the national flag in 1946 having won a competition. The competition was held to celebrate the independence of the nation after the constitution was offically passed. Although the constitution was made in 1942, the end of World War 2 was awaited to ensure that the island would not be annexed, and the people not left disappointed. The kanji of "Kurui" are written in yellow. The red represents the lava floes. The white represents Himori. The blue represents the sea. The black represents the remainder of the table cloth it was sown on.

The purpose of the flag lies mainly in making flagpoles seem less boring, although preventing the international press see the awful wall colour in the Ministries plays a part in it. Those unfamiliar with the kanji ask what the "yellow straggly bits" are, but these are of course the kanji of "Kurui". Problems with the flag include include beetroot stains and uncompatibility with 90 degree wash cycles.

It's informal name, "Mr C's tablecloth" came because the competition winner eventually became leader of Kurui by popular vote. Yep, he won the nation in a competition.
