Many thousands of years ago, Human colonists landed on Kindura, the second planet of a blue star. Within a few generations, they sank into a simple agrarian existence, maintained for many ages. Within the last few hundred years, they have recaptured science and industry. The exploration of space was greatly aided by the discovery of twenty massive, corroded colony ships sitting just on the edge of the continental shelf. The rapid advancement of hyperdrive technology soon brought them into contact with the insectoid hive society of the Lorcha.

In the face of xenocidal war, the entire population of Kindura began a migration across 75 light-years into an uninhabited region of space. On the homeworld, the surface was rocked with thousands of Fission detonations, wrecking the technological infrastructure and poisoning the atmosphere with radioactive dust. 500 million survivors were transported in suspended animation to a young star in an early period of planetary formation. They quickly adapted to a life in artificial habitats and have begun to develop the system extensively.
