The Chassigne family is the Royal Family of Sabrateur. The first King of Sabrateur, Ranulph I, is the direct grandfather, 32 times removed, of the current sovereign, Alexander James V. The royal family has presided over Sabrateur for the duration of its existence, and Ranulph was leader of the tribe that became the Sabratese people, taking up his seat as King when the people settled, c. 1100. He is renowned for his just and charismatic nature, and is seen as a virtuous and acceptable role model.
