Union of Saint Holden

The Union of Saint Holden (USH) is a supranational and intergovernmental union of 9 states. It was established in 1912 by the Treaty on Saint Holden Union (The Francisco Treaty), and is the de facto successor to the six-member Economic Union of Saint Holden founded in 1897. Since then new accessions have raised its number of member states, and competences have expanded.

The Union is a single market with a common trade policy, a Common Agricultural/Fisheries Policy, and a Regional policy to assist poorer regions. It introduced a single currency, the Rudolph, adopted by all member states. The USH initiated a Common Foreign and Security Policy, and a Police and Judicial Co-operation in Criminal Matters. Important USH institutions and bodies include the USH Commission, the Council of the USH, the USH Council, the USH Central Bank, the USH Court of Justice, and the USH Parliament. Citizens of USH member states are also USH citizens: they directly elect the USH Parliament, once every five years. They can live, travel, work, and invest in other member states (with some restrictions on new member states). Passport control and customs checks at most internal borders were abolished by the Coopersville Agreement. Politics Supporters of the USH argue that the growth of the USH is a force for peace, democracy and prosperity for its member states.
