The JTIDN is the primary tactical information distribution system employed by the Snake Eater military. Using bio-neural circuts along with a low-power broadband network, tactical information is distributed around Snake Eater forces.

The JTIDN operates by feeding all tactical information into a database that is kept away from the battlefield, to prevent EMP attacks disabling it. This data is encoded with a 256-bit encryption code, which is randomised at the beginning of each cycle, which lasts 12 hours at a time. The new encryption protocol is sent to every unit in Snake Eaters. To prevent espionage, this code is never seen by human eyes, and is instead fed directly into the central core of every units' data processors, even those contained within the infantry battle suits. When the occupant requests access to information, the computer verifies their security clearance. If they do not have required levels of clearance, they are refused access. If, however, they do, they are allowed access to only the information they requested and also pertinent information.

In order to prevent this information being leaked into the civil networks, or being intercepted by enemy forces, the JTIDN data also contains an encrypted virus, which destroys the data and then self-destructs as soon as the data leaves certified networks. If the recieiving station cannot verify it's status as a Snake military unit, then the virus is activated and the data is destroyed.
