Climate and Geography
Climate: San Gabriel Valley enjoys a warm, sunny, and desert-like climate year-round. Rain is sporadic but when it occurs, it usually ends within a day or two, with some exceptions. Snow never occurs in the Valley but can viewed on distant mountains to the northeast.Its trading ties with the Pacific Rim and Central and South America are supported by the area's strategic location and access to transportation.Three east-west (210, 10, 60) and three north-south (57, 605, 710) freeways serve the 4000 square miles of the San Gabriel Valley.Three major freight lines cross the San Gabriel Valley, providing direct linkage from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach — the two largest container terminals in the nation. The proximity of the mountains and the short commute to both the desert and the beach make the San Gabriel Valley an exciting destination for many.The San Gabriel River flows southward through the western portion of the valley.
