History

The DEN was founded when The New Den and a group of other DEN nations (including Debugistan, Praedonia and Grippsholm) split from the self-proclaimed loyalist DEN II region. The DEN flourished and very quickly outstripped DEN II in member count, activity and number of raids. DEN II eventually gave up the struggle to continue, ordering all remaining members to move to The DEN in order to further the raiding cause. The leader of DEN II, Martian City States and several other nations including Weesnaw and Mara Jade refused to join The DEN, believe the way in which its leader took command to be traitorous and extreme. The original organisation of "The DEN" founded by General Powell has since died off, replaced by the new DEN led by General Tommy Franks. The few who remained in the original DEN have gone their separate ways. Few of the troopers in DEN II went back to the DEN when General Powell retired.

The New DEN and General Tommy Franks were both deleted on December 10th, 2004. The deletion happened due to some rather offensive and very abusive posts made on the RMB of The Old Raiding Club. Shortly afterwards, Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization invaded the region as retaliation for DEN's activties. The DEN Founder, Franks, declared the region "closed" when he used a puppet delegate to "reclaim" the region. The puppet was soon deleted for grieffing the region by kicking virtually all the habitants, in breech of NationStates rules. Another Franks account opened a new DEN Invader region and shifted all DEN activities there, leaving, for a while, The DEN region to its new residents. Over the weeks, The DEN delegacy passed across the hands of several internally elected nation accounts, as well as at least 2 organisations who "held" the region secure over these weeks. Finally, DEN Invaders stormed the region despite still having moved on weeks ago. Of 3 DEN Invader delegates in two weeks, one was deleted for severe rules violations. The region of The DEN now has non-DEN Invader residents who see this sudden "return" by DEN Invaders a full scale Invasion of the region and are vigilant of further abuse by the DEN Invaders.
