Although the Instituto Tecnológico de Vassfforcia (ITV) was founded in the 1920s, it didn't had a professional football team until 1939, the same year as the Universidad Nacional de Vassfforcia (UNV).
The 40s and 50s were unremarkable for the team, but in 1964 they won their only title in the LFV. The 60s was the decade of the universities with the Atoms ending subchampion on other 5 occasions.

Further Information

As the ITV and the UNV are the most top universities in the country the academic rivalry existing between both is taken to every field, including all sports. Hence the rivalry between the Atoms and the Killer Whales is just less infamous as the one between Vaqueros and Wild Horses. However, this is mainly because their fans don't start riots as often.
