Āþ-Neila is the second most populous province of Baranxtu. It forms the eastern end of the Northern Industrial Belt and is one of the most populous provinces of Baranxtu.
Most inhabitants are of Baranxtiman descent, followed by Asuanituans.
Name
Āþ-Neila is Baranxeï for North Neila, distinguishing the province from Āŋ-Neila, from which it was formally split in 1860.
Neila, in turn, is derived from Nei, the capital of the region, and the suffix -la, which can roughly be translated to hillocks of .... The suffix -la ultimately comes from the Proto-Ilatemaian *erna (hill) which also produced other suffixes only used found in toponymic background, like -na/-ma (meaning hills of ...).
Nei itself is derived from the Akes Mersanint word ea nehij, meaning Green City on the Hill.
The name Neila originally referred to the rural area around the native city state of Nei. It later became the name Baranxtuans gave to the indigenous union led by Nei, which covered what later became the Baranxtuan province of the same name, Neila.
Āþ-Neila therefore literally means Northern Hills around the Green City on the Hill.

Flag
</div>The flag of Āþ-Neila can be traced back to the early 14th century, when the same colors were used by Duke Lampouri Nahimigitu Asaratu Beloribi-Saŋundi and the army he led in the Battle of Pakala, one of the more important battles in the history of the Kingdom of Baranxtu.
The first governor of Neila, Maribi Sintuitu Saŋundi claimed to be a descendat of this famous duke and thus used his colors in the flag for Neila. Although his claims were never taken seriously, the flag was kept.
