A Great British and Irish Politician's career
North East Somerset is now the King of Great Britain and Ireland. He ascended the throne upon the death of the previous King, and founder of the region, --Great Britain--. His official title as Monarch is King --Great Britain-- II, although he is usually called "NES" by members of the region. He joined NS in April 2004, and the region of GB&I in March 2005. The player held many positions in other regions with other accounts prior to joining GB&I, but mainly of little significance.
In March 2005 after watching GB&I, which was held by the players friend --GB--, start to grow, North East Somerset joined. In the first term he stood he was elected an MP, and was appointed the Head of Intelligence for GB&I. During the second term he began to consolidate power after taking control of the Unionist Party, and merging it with the National Libertarian Party. The newly formed NLUP won the third term election against their rivals the HGSPP in a dramatic election.
The first term of PMship was during the summer and much effort was put into keeping the region together, and improving activity and efficiency in the Ministeries. During this time GB&I grew from 120 to 180 nations and major players including Posul and R3n became a part of the region. Part of the radical thinking involved the creation of new jobs to help the Ministries operate more efficiently, and the expansion of Civil diplomatic and immigration authorities.
The next term was won by a NLUP-BIF coalition and North East Somerset held the role of Foreign Secretary, which he also held during the term after this in a NLUP-IND coalition. During his time as FS GB&I joined ACCEL, and the Foreign Office was remodelled, it is now one of the most efficient ministeries in GB&I. The NLUP was also remodelled during the term by NES, and was renamed the LIP (Liberal Imperialist Party). The new party had a Constitution and official procedures for deciding policy. NES gave up his governmental job as Head of Intelligence, but continued to run the regions intelligence as JDI under the authority of the King.
The 6th term of NES's presence was the second he was elected in a LIP government as PM. This term was dominated by the GB&I-FCS conflict although progress in recruitment, improving GB&Is number from 80 to 140 nations was made. Also a LIP Agenda was constructed byt the party to identify what areas need improvements in the future.
The next term was won by the LIP PM Candidate Posul. During this term NES served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer. During this term the LIP, which NES was the Party Chairman of, was dissolved, by vote in the party, in an effort to stop the LIP dominance of parliament in the interest of democracy. The LIP had become so successful that it dominated politics with over 70% of the votes, and many believed this was not healthy for democracy. NES was a key figure in this supporting the dissolution, for the good of GB&I.
The next term was also won by Posul, in an Independant coalition, and NES was in the government Cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary. He held Minister of Defence for a short while earlier in the term. As Foreign Secretary he laid out new procedures for the Office, and whilst MoD the Military Services Bill was voted through parliament and put into action. NES also campaigned strongly for improving recruitment, and the population hit an all time high of 240 late in the term.
In the post Summer Klopstock premiership NES did not enter the elections for MP, and having become the longest continually serving MP in the region, he left politics. He was appointed as an Adjutant-General in the military and increased the time spent on Intelligence, overseeing an expansion of operations.
The following election was tightly contested, and North East Somerset entered, and was elected with the 2nd highest number of votes. He was appointed Minister of Defence by the Prime Minister R3nnaissanc3r and rejoined the Cabinet. Due to the resignation of Klopstock as Foreign Secretary his time in Defence was brief, and he took on the role of Foreign Secretary. The department is in need once again of renovations, with ambassadorial re-organisation and a new system of embassy status updating completed. It is an exciting time for the Foreign Office with diplomatic opportunities aplenty under GB&Is expansionist foreign policy. So far major treaties have been signed with The Pacific, Land of Kings and Emperors, Empires of Earth, The New Inquisition and Catlandatopia.
In the 12th parliament of Great Britain and Ireland, North East Somerset was once again elected and appointed as Prime Minister. He served his 3rd term as Prime Minister of Great Britain and Ireland between January and March 2007, and reorganised several areas, including the military and immigration. The military was able to respond with double figure UN nations in short times after several training exercsises. The region again broke 200 nations at the end of the term.
During his time as Prime Minister he stood for the Secretary of World Affairs elections in ACCEL, and won them. He was also elected as a MP in The New Inquisition and appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Intelligence. He held this role in The New Inquisition until his appointment as Crown Prince of The New Inquisition.
