This election saw the rise of the coalition governments that would predominate until the 27th general election. The balance of power in Parliament was held by the Liberal Democrats, who voted with the Social Democrats. Rifts in the Liberal Conservative had become evident, it would not contest the next general election. Its moderate faction formed the Moderate Party of North Ahjeezistan and its conservative faction joined with the Populists to form the Popular Democratic Party of North Ahjeezistan.

Lady Senator Simpson, North Ahjeezistan's first female Prime Minister, followed a cautious, moderate route to placate the Liberal Democrats, but was at heart a radical. She appointed only one Liberal Democrat, Lord Madingley, to her Cabinet. The Liberal Democrats threatened to switch their support to the Liberal Conservatives, which would have guaranteed them a majority, so a snap general election was called, in which the Social Democrats won an independent majority. The Liberal Democrats aligned with the more moderate faction of the Social Democratic party and remained necessary members of any possible government until the 16th general election.
