Background

By-Election and Senator Rebellion

Distressed by the DH vote, leader of the Libertarian Reform Party, pushed a Vote of No-Confidence to the Democratic House. David McKibben declared this years election to be pointless. In an interview McKibben said, 'With the two leading parties so close together that we can almost smell victory it is ludicrous a Government has allowed to be formed. If the DH stands up to a No-Confidence bill, we can rid ourselves of SIP and begin real Politics.'. The vote went ahead with 341 Deputies expressing No Confidence but 389 declaring loyalty. The bill failed.

However, McKibben had a second trick. Aware his party was the largest in the Senate he realised that any bill passed by the Govt. is likely to not pass the Senate. He lobbied leaders of all parties in the Senate to politically rebel against the Government. His belief was that if a majority of Senators would consitently vote against any bill passed by the DH, Niploma's democracy would be proved pointless and a new election would have to be called.

Within a week the leaders of the Official Communist Workers Party, Grand Conservative Party, Industrial Nationalist Party and of course the Libertarian Reform Party all agreed to rebel against the Government and push for a new election, a countrywide by-election. Mr. Robert was informed by McKibben that up to 103 Senators would vote against any Bill. Mr. Robert declared the parties as 'undemocratic' and 'fascist'. In reply the rebelling parties called upon a peacefull march in Failegn to pressurise the Government. McKibben said that around 2-million marchers attended although SIP officials say it was closer to 500,000. Regardless, and giving in under pressure Mr. Robert declared another election for both the Senate and Democratic House. On the same day the People's Coalition was formed to try and defend SIPs position of power.

Parties

People's Coalition

In return at being forced to a re-election PM Robert constructed the People's Coalition, a liberal socialist coalition with heavy green values. Although a unexperianced but well-liked Odhrán Torin leads the Coalition (and ergo will be Prime Minister) Adráin Robert is President of the Coalition.

The Coalition has been seen as a platform to ensure that the Socialist Internationalist Party stay alive. To many this is true although the huge Coalition appeals to most of the electorate.

Libertarian Reform Party

McKibben's now iconic like-status as a campaigner for democracy and Niploma should allow the the Libertarian Reform Party to win many more votes in the upcoming election. However, many voters see through McKibben as a leader full of talk but nothing else.

Others

Fringe parties such as the Revolutionary Workers Party and Industrial Nationalist Party are expected to make significant losses with small gains towards the Grand Conservative Party and Official Communist Workers Party.

McKibben has been ruthless is gaining votes, ocassionally dipping into personal arguement with the ex Prime Minister, Mr. Robert. Their largest rivals are the LRP who are responsible for taking most of the GCP's votes. 6.23% 47, 31
Industrial Nationalist Party Thomas Chambers The Industrial Nationalist Party (INF) is an extremist neo-liberal party. The INF believes in ultra-low tax rates to promote business and freedom. The party has long been criticised for being outspoken in its views, once amplified by Deputy Garluhn who spat towards a OCWP member. The leader, Thomas Chambers, has hinted at a merge with the GCP. 1.06% 8, 20

Others n/a Other Deputies and candidates include regional nationalists, independants, various extremists and religious groups. The huge amount of parties split the vote so much that not a single seat was won. 0.16% 1 (but only none awarded), 9
