8 series divisions are those divisional formations of the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought which end in the number 8. Execept for four artillery units provided by the Land Service and the divisional wing provided by the Air Service, all units and formations come from the Hochelaga Civil Guard. The series is conceived as one for infantry divisions consisting primarily of part-time citizen soldiers, which in turn are part of an army corps also largely made up of reservists.

Numbers of formations and units are given in full for the first wave. Where possible, the formula for calculating formation and unit numbers in subsequent waves is given, where w = number of population wave of one hundred million. Unfortunately, many of these units do not follow an easily explained pattern.

Notes

  1. After every third wave of 100 million national population, the units are reorganised to provide for one armoured infantry division (5 armoured, 6 armoured infantry, 3 SP armoured artillery, 3 AD artillery and 1 transport battalions), one motorised infantry division (1 armoured, 2 armoured infantry, 8 motorised infantry, 3 SP armoured artillery, 1 AT artillery, 2 AD artillery and 2 transport battalions) and one light infantry division on the model of 6 series divisions (1 armoured infantry, 1 motorised infantry, 9 light infantry on foot, 1 AD artillery, 2 AT artillery and 3 transport battalions). Each division gets an indentical number of engineering, security, supply and health battalions.
  2. Demi-brigades bear names only and not numbers, taking their identity from the division they belong to, e.g., Divisional Reserve Demi-Brigade of the 28th Light Infantry Division.
  3. While there is only one maintenance battalion in the division, from time to time or purpose to purpose it may be assigned to either or both of the engineering and logistics demi-brigades.
  4. The Kingsmount Regiment, using English as its unit working langauge, contributes every twelfth battalion to the division.
