A B

Named for its "benevolent dictator", A_B is known for its simultaneous general lack of laws and strict penalties for violations of what few laws actually exist. Murder and theft are not tolerated, but just about everything else is allowed. One of the few exceptions to this is challenging the government. In fact, government officials who don't belong to law enforcement seem to be around for the purpose of protecting the government from overthrow, although the military is used for other reasons.

Government Infrastructure

The government exists in 4 branches:

Branch 1 - The leader, and his messengers

Branch 1 does not have an official name, but it is understood to consist of only a few people, one who dictates the everything the government does, and the rest who bring word of his decisions as well as inform him of current events. After currency became obsolete, all but the leader were replaced with job-bots.

Branch 2 - The gaurd

Some regard this as an extension of the military, however they are particularly trained to keep the populace away from government buildings and enforcing the no fly zones around them. They've caused quite a few international incidents by taking down commercial jets from other nations who went through these zones. Luckily these tend to end with the other nation agreeing that their airliners should have first asked for fly-over permission. Due to there being no currency, this branch is almost entirely job-bot, although a few people have managed to get in as volunteers.

Branch 3 - The military

A_B only has 3 branches of military. These are their ground army, air force, and the orbital defense. Although the orbital defense doesn't get much use with Skuzzsock, A_B's closest ally resting right above A_B in space. Military men, like all government officials are entirely volunteer, although they don't get paid seeing as how there is no currency. Surprisingly, the volunteer rate for the military is pretty high. Many speculate that this is because wanna-be serial killers join for the opportunity to help annex small nations for their resources, only to leave them derlect after said resources were seized.

The military is also infamous for being paranoid of invasions, and while they aren't known to harm citizens, many kids have complained about pet birds and kites being fried by AA lasers. After the "epic proportions" invasion, experimental military job-bots have been produced and currently serve in the ranks.

Branch 4 - Law enforcement

Law enforcement doesn't do much with there being very few laws in effect. They are entirely volunteer as the leader is not comfortable using job-bots for their task. The volunteer rate is pretty good, though not as high as the military. Sadistic nutcases often ask to become prison guards or executioners. Seeing as how penalties are harsh for breaking what few laws there are it is easy to see why.

Government Corruption

The leader of A_B is known for being extremely corrupt. He uses the military to pull diplomatic strings, has UN surveyers executed for fun/revenge, pays other nations to let him dump his nation's garbage on their land, executes political activists in cruel ways, makes new immigrants go through a deadly no man's land to win citizenship while publicizing the event, and when people ask for an election, he gives them the choice to "elect" how they're going to be executed, only to just go ahead and do it his way.

These are just the known incidents.

Torture

Most of the torture that goes on in A_B's prisons are part of the government's "2 eyes and a limb for 1 eye of an innocent" policy. If you burn somebody to death, you yourself will burn to death. But the way it goes is you get burned almost to death, slapped around by prison guards for 6 hours(this hurts a lot more when you're covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns), allowed to recover, then burned to death.

POWs who come from nations that do not treat A_Bians well are known to spend their days begging for death. Soldiers are specifically instructed to barely nourish them, barely cloth them(only the waist area is covered), drop sharp objects all over the ground of the POW camp, keep waking up sleepy POWs, and make them use the restroom in their own drinking water. They are permitted to add to the torment as long as it is done in a way which does not kill them. They are only allowed to kill them when the enemy is approaching. However, many are known to drop dead from diseases and malnourishment.

UN surveyers who give nations their "ranking" aren't treated well by A_B's government either. It's a wonder they even bother working on the nation at all. Though they are usually just executed and not tortured, some who managed to escape have reported hearing rumors of others who did undergo torture. Though they could never confirm who it was, or in what way they were tortured.

Life in A_B

A_Bians live luxuriously. Seeing as how machines produce whatever people want and they get it for free, the need for cheaper, low quality products is not there. As well this also extends them the benefit of never having to work. Also, grocery stores have been replaced by categorized warehouses. There is no official way of life or culture, and in fact, tradition is frowned upon by the average citizen.

The government pretty much lets it's people do what they want. Drugs. prostitution and gambling, commonly banned in other nations, are perfectly legal here. Although without currency, prostitution and gambling work a bit differently and are done with dares and favors instead. In fact, the government is so loose that it even allows people to brawl in the street so long as all parties involved have consented to it.

Healthcare is easily accessible, though many are apprehensive about using the healthcare system seeing as how a lack of volunteer doctors means most are robotic. Those who have used it report an efficient and accurate system, with less mistakes made than by a human run one. Still, with the system being relatively new, most people are skeptical.

Education

Children in A_B are not required to undergo education, but most do. Believing that education should stem from an interest in knowledge and not pressure to learn, the government has made tests a voluntary process of learning. Students who score low can still move to higher grades, but are advised against it.

Education is efficient in A_B with all teachers being job-bots and not wasting time. As a result, while private schools are allowed, very few actually exist.

Technology

A_B is an extremely advanced nation. Although the study of science is left to the public to do on it's own, there are some who pursue it as a hobby. With no government pressure to take it one direction or another, science has advanced rather quickly and allowed numerous advances that would otherwise be impossible.

Robots

A_B does in fact have the technology to produce sentient robots. Very few are actually made however. Most robots that were produced are job-bots that keep the populace from having to work. Job-bots have no intelligence or awareness. The few sentient bots in existence have been allowed citizenship status. However they are still few in number since not many have ever bothered to build them.

Genetic Engineering

While it is not known to people outside the country just how common practice this is, it is known that it's at least used for military purposes.

History

Skuzzsock incident

The members of A_B's first orbital defense unit were sent to The Space Station, an incredible feat of engineering. For days after they first arrived they didn't report back and when Anarchy_Balsac demanded an answer, they told him they secedded and became the nation of Skuzzsock. Anarchy_Balsac eventually forgave this, as they did at least secede outside of his nation. Eventually, they became close allies.

Drahks incident

The first ground amry of A_B, or what was supposed to be, was a delegation of experimental super beings. They weren't the conventional 2-meter tall super soldier, they were a masterpeice. They were superior in every way(though not neccesarily 2-meters tall). Unfortunately, they didn't want to stay. Anarchy_Balsac didn't have the cold heart, or the means to force them. He willingly let them go. They formed their own, nameless nation below The Sky Platform. To this day they have not formed an alliance with anyone, though they do show their respect to the A_Bians, who are their creators.

War of Epic Proportions

Skuzzsock, their closest ally, got sucked into a wormhole. Next thing they new, A_Bians saw many many robot attackers come from above. AA lasers destroyed them by the millions. Unfortunately, they came by the billions and after a long day, A_B was occupied. Fortunatley, they also made the mistake of moving on to attack the Drahks, who destroyed them. The ones who were left to occupy A_B, soon found themselves moving to fight the Drahks, but it was too little, too late. They were dead and A_B was free.

After that, some poor military leader launched pods by the 100s at A_B, somehow thinking that would work after they destroyed the previous army by the millions. Needless to say, AA lasers made quick work of these. What happened from there isn't currently known. Skuzzsock was eventually brought out of the wormhole by a race called "the Fahliens".
