Aa Shey is generally considered to be the top female lightweight amateur boxer in the People's Democratic Social Republic of Ariddia. Born in Rêvane, she is legally an Indigenous Ariddian, although she is of considerably mixed ethnic background. Shey is an undergraduate student of philosophy at the University of Southern Rêvane.

The young boxer attracted attention in the lead-up to the first ever Summer Olympic Games by being the first to back a call from Commerce Heights' Capitalizt Olympic Committee in favour of an end to gender restrictions in Olympic sports. Shey also spoke up in favour of Olympic events for athletes with disabilities, and praised fellow Ariddian athlete Mélanie Sandré, a one-legged swimmer participating in the Games.

"Events for women boxers, women wrestlers, men rhythmic gymnasts, and athletes with disabilities, I'm sure all that will happen one day. If there are enough of us saying we want it to happen, and that hard-working, talented athletes shouldn't be excluded in this way."

Shey has said she is proud to be considered her country's best female amateur boxer, and that she has no intention, for now, of becoming a professional. Her plans are to eventually start a career as a primary school teacher.
