Aiwyn of Mists or Aiwyn ni Gwydion is the eldest daughter of Corrina of the Resurgent Dream and of Immanuel of the Resurgent Dream. Aiwyn is known as a skilled warrior and a practiced socialite. She is generally held to be the most social member of her family and was a frequent host to balls and other affairs during her time on earth. While flirtatious, Aiwyn was known to be very loyal to her husband, Phaeton of Akaton.

Aiwyn and Phaeton met at a ball designed by High Queen Corrina to find a husband for her daughter. While Aiwyn received suit from many men, she accepted Phaeton and they were soon wed. After the disappearance of High Queen Corrina, Aiwyn and Draconis inherited the throne of the Resurgent Dream as well as Akaton. The couple proclaimed themselves Emperor and Empress of Mists. Aiwyn began to limit herself to regional affairs, leaving the Resurgent Dream to her sister, Agwene of the Resurgent Dream, to whom she yielded her title of High Queen. Upon the formalization of the relationship between the Resurgent Dream and Akaton in the Pact of Hera, Aiwyn yielded all claim to effective authority in the Resurgent Dream and accepted a very limited regional role in an alliance between two sovereign and separate powers.

Later, Aiwyn renounced all titles but that of Empress of Akaton. This is the title she held at the time of the Shattering, when she was forced to leave earth for the Dreaming, along with most other Fae.

Aiwyn is the sister of Agwene of the Resurgent Dream and Grand DuchessVicotira ni Gwydion. She is the niece of the late Danwyth of Shieldcrest, Nianki of Shieldcrest, and Grand DuchessBeatrice ni Gwydion. Aiwyn is fluent and literate in English, French, and Welsh.

Birth, youth, and marriage

Aiwyn was born in the Dreaming to then Duke Immanuel and Duchess Corrina. Her exact place of birth and most of the details of her childhood are unknown. However, it is believed she was trained in war, politics, and law, as are most Gwydion Sidhe.

Aiwyn came to Earth during the Homecoming War, in which she commanded a small force. After her grandfather, Timon, and then her mother gained the Danaan Crown, Aiwyn became the Crown Princess of the Resurgent Dream, a title she held for several centuries.

In early 1990, a courtship ball was held for Princess Aiwyn. She accepted the Emperor of Akaton and they were wed shortly thereafter.

Interests and patronage

Empress Aiwyn was known for her patronage of the fine arts, especially as Akaton was not known as an artistic culture prior to her reign. Aiwyn is known to have been planning to establish a number of operas, concert halls, and ballets prior to the Shattering, when she was forced to leave Earth along with most other Fae.
