Ajaman (pronounced Arr-sha-maan) is the provincial capital of the Emirate of Abu Omar, in the United Federal Kingdom of St Samuel.

History

The city of Ajaman was founded in 286 AD as a trading post. The city only saw any real growth in around 1000 AD when more traders from Samah Island began to use the port of Ajaman. Ajaman became the capital city of Bab-El-Sama in 1208 AD after being selected by Sultan Abdullah Al Yasmine as the city where he would have his palace constructed. By 1217 AD construction of the Al Yasmine Citadel had been completed.

Between 1299 and 1391 Bab-El-Sama was controlled by the Emirate of Muhtaseb and Ajaman saw much neglect. Upon conqouring the Muhtasians, Sultan Hafiz Al Yasmine returned to Ajaman a triumphant and celebrated leader. He made his brother, Nathim Idr Al Yasmine governor of Ajaman and the city once again began to prosper.

With the finding of oil in 1940 in the Emirate of Abu Omar, the city saw huge development projects.
