Alantic States

Summary

The Imperial Nation of Alantic States is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 594 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Door-to-door Insurance Sales.

'unconventional' weaponry has been banned, all guns must be registered, children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life, and elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a serious problem. Alantic States's national animal is the Paitriot, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dollar.

Government

The Alantic States uses a two house legislature system, the Senate and the House of Districs forming the Congress. The Executive branch, basicly being the President and his cabinet, the secretarys of defense, education, commerce, enviroment and public transport. There is also a small Supreme Court made up of nine judges.

Military

Numbering 5.3 million personel it is the 2nd largest Army in the Deep South. It's soldiers are highly intelligent and heavily augmented by bio-inhavement drugs. Mostly reliant on their advanced weapons and communication systems. It's soldiers are the backbone of the Regional Defense Forces.

The fleet is much smaller than the army and airforce, consisting mostly of Aircraft Carriers and escort vessals. The fleet is mostly used in supportive roles during operations.

The Air Force is numbers 72,000 personel and is made up by a very heavy experimental aircraft sqaudron.

Colonial Empire

The Alantic States has absorbed several nations into it's borders and after several disbutes, granted independece to several nations keeping them under a colonial government. Some of these colonies are quite large such as Kingdom of Scarveili and the Republic of Evanastan. these colonies supply most of the enlisted personel in the Alantican Army.

Deep South Civil War

The president of the Alantic States after becoming Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for the Deep South Regional Defense Forces was a major figure in the civil war. President Mains organized a military response to the crisis within only hours of the emergency. He releaved the Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General MI, opon learning that his country might be part of the coup in the region. Mains made the first Regional military movements to blockade the Southron Born, the Rogue nation who began the war, by ordering vessels of the Alantic States Navy to seize the offshore oil platforms that were vital to the Southron's economy. It is belived that this move ended the war, as Southron forces evacuated Chapel Hill (Deep South capital)the next day.

Appointment to the UN Delegateship

Following an attack by the UN military forces, which included a nuclear attack, The Deep South delegate was killed. President Mains leading the most powerful country in the Region was elected to the delegateship. After his accension to power, Mains moved quickly to improve the life of the Regions citizens. He retired from this position to take a position in Deep South's new colony, The Last Kingdom.

War with Rome

Following the Praetorian invasion of Rome, President Mains ordered the 2nd Army, 3rd Army, and 1st Oscean division to support their attack as a sign of honoring the alliance with their region.
