Geography
Heavily forested terrain with rolling hills.
Government
Head of state is the Grand Duke, who holds absolute power. Top positions of armed forces, various government ministries and other agencies are held by important nobles.
Politics
Current Grand Duke emphasizes green values (even at the expense of national economy), accordingly the national animal wywern is protected as are the vast rain forests at southern part of the realm. UN membership is not desired, as it is seen as weakening both autonomy of Alaros and authority of the Grand Duke.
Society
Small privileged nobility. Normal citizens do not have any political power. Special police units have been created. Harsh anti-protest laws are in place, and elections have been outlawed.
Economy
Substantial arms manufacturing industry, which dominates private sector, receives government subsidies. Select refugees from abroad, who are willing to accept underpaid jobs, are allowed to enter the country.
Recently increase in education and welfare spending has been observed.
Transportation
Cars are banned. Instead, a vast monorail network, operated by the state, carries people all over the country.
Military
Due to the terrain, most of the army consists of infantry formations. Some armoured elements exist, as does small air force. Infantry training emphasizes marksmanship, bayonet fighting and wilderness survival. During training every attempt is made to instill loyalty for the Duke.
Compulsory service
All male citizens are expected to serve at minimum twelve months. Those who show dedication, loyalty and ability stand to be chosen for service in the Grand Ducal Guard which acts as bodyguard for the Grand Duke and his family as well as a military police in the capital city.
Infantry Rifle
Service rifle is the locally manufactured Infantry Rifle. It is clip-fed, semi-automatic battle rifle of conventional design. It should be noted that the ammunition is of large enough caliber to deter any wywern from having a feast at the expense of man carrying this weapon.
