The Most Serene Republic of Algolian is an enviromentally stunning nation with pragmatic, yet optimistic citizens. The government hovers around between types of Left-Wing governments and "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy", in part because of the over reactive population, and part because the people choose stupid issues to bring up to the government, and in part because of luck.

Regions

The large nation of Algolian is divided up into sub-regions dependant on their native races and their general climate, however, all sub-regions see themselves as Algolians first and foremost.

Parma

Parma is a large, productive grasslands. The environment is fairly stable; it is far enough from the mountains so that it is not effected by the rainshadow, and has plenty of waterways and lakes.

Camineet

The Capital of Parma, Camineet is a large, progressive city. Nearly 1/5th of the population lives in Camineet. The city is the highlight of technology in Algolian, and a cultural mixing pot, although most of the people are the native Parmians.

Scion

Scion is a large trade center, the economic heart of Parma, and of Algolian itself. The city prides itself on its business and educational and cultural cities, and the city overlooks a very large inland lake.

Motavia

The large desert of Motavia is in the rainshadow of Dezolian mountains, and has few natural waterways, save for a single river running through the entire area. However, it is not totally devoid of life, and the native Motavians wouldn't have it any other way.

Paseo

Paseo is a large capital city of Motavia, and while not as impressive as its Parmian counterparts, it is a very well developed city, despite the many environmental hardships its people have to endure. The city is primarily Parmian, but about just under half of the population is the native Motavian.

Zema

Zema is the city of the Motavians, who are naturally wanderers. Most of the technology and infrastructure was developed by Parmians, but the city itself is run under the care of its native population.

Dezolis

Dezolis is a large frozen mountainous region, home to the Dezolians and Muskats. The Dezolians are a hearty and kindhearted people, but few outside of them would call their harsh climate home. The Muskats keep mostly to themselves, and while they are benign, they are not a very civilized people (at least in traditional terms). Dezolis is home to very few Parmians, and even fewer Motavians.

Ryuon

Ryuon is the capital, and only outstanding, city of Dezolis, nestled in between frozen mountain caps.

Rykos

Rykos is a large forested area, mostly unexplored by the people's of Algolian, however ancient ruins are found here and there. Few people ever visit, and it is undeveloped almost entirely.

Races and Culture

Algolian is home to three very distinct races, although other travelers from other areas do make up a sizable sum of some of the larger cities, notably the ones in Parma.

Parmian

Parmians are a race not much unlike traditional humans, other than the fact that they came from Algolian. Parmian culture is very open minded, in part because of their own traditions, and in part because of the diverse influence of the other cultures around it. Parmians have always been fair minded, striving to create equality amongst their regions. Parmians are wary of any ruling that would limit their freedoms, infring on their local sovereignty, or start external conflict with other nations. Parmians celebrate many holidays around the year. Parmians prefer loose, but practical clothing, however there are no restrictions on the type of clothing (or lack thereof), and so it is just as likely to see a Parmian wearing clothing from another culture, forgien clothing, clothing inspired by an entertainment media, or nothing at all. Parmians have a wide variety of skin hues, hair colors and eye colors, however, it is also common for Parmians (notably, young adults) to dye their hair or eyes unnatural colors, as a fashion statement.

Motavian

Motavians are an intelligent owl-like species with blue feathers. They generally wear dark brown clothing to protect them in their desert environment, and are naturally curious. They are also able to eat and enjoy foods that are generally undigestable to Parmians. Motavians are very fond of their ability to repair Parmian technology, and it has been said that they have a larger affinity for fixing somthing they never knew how to make in the first place than actually inventing something of their own. They are a naturally unpious and curious race; however outsiders often find them rude. They have a habit of trying to share things that other people do not want or ask for, such as their famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) cuisine, which is often times poisonous to humans and Parmians, and if not poisonous, then of a variety of taste to be unanimously abhored by such. However, from their point of view, this is not an attack, it is sharing of something that they wholeheartedly enjoy.

Dezolians

The Dezolians are a green skinned, reptillian in apperance people. They are generally a fairly religous and kindhearted people, but they are also very rugged, to endure the native fauna and environment of their region. The Dezolians are a more reserved people, not as inquisitive as the Motavians, and not as outgoing as Parmians. They are reserved, quite, and on average a fairly religious race. However, their religion is little alike that of most human religions, and they are known for their hospitality and listening and mediation skills.

Muskats

The Muskats are a intelligent cat people, and while they are capable of rational thought and speech, their appearance is nearly identical to a normal housecat and they are not taken seriously much outside of Dezolis, mostly because of their rarity. Little is known about them, they often times inhabit the homes of Parmians or Dezolians; rarely do they live with Motavians, who often times will try to feed them things they can't eat. So long as they're not directly addressed, and well pampered, they will not really react much to their hosts. They are generally reserved, and wander from time to time, but seasonal changes bring them back every so often to their frigid homes. They are a naturally migratory species, but it is unknown what exactally makes them such. Muskats can grow to be very old, older than the oldest Parmians, however this is a very rare occurance, and such age often makes the Muskat very large, until they are bigger than a human, although still roughly the same shape as they were in youth. Most political changes mean very little to Muskats, so they rarely take any place in any sort of election, although the Parmians have invited them to do so. They prefer to more or less ignore the world at large and they do whatever they want, for the most part.
