Allanea was founded in May 2003 (real life time) by political refugees from the United States and the Russian Federation, who wanted to create a nation on the principles of individual liberty. The man behind the concept was Alexander Kirillovich Kazansky, who became the first President of Allanea. The two most traumatic experiences in the nation's history were the One Day War, with the subsequent enemy occupation it brought, and the Ambivalentiran Civil War with it's immense atrocities committed on all sides. Buoyed by foreign investments at first, then accelerating its economy via an increasingly free-market system, the United States of Allanea is now a reasonably-powerful nation. The economy is marked by steady growth, low unemployment and inflation, and rapid advances in technology.

Geography

Location:

Mainland Allanea is in the Greater Prussian Bay. However, Allanea possesses colonies throughout the world, including a variety of regions like Haven, the Midlands, and others (see Appendix A) Area:

Allanea possesses a large amount of colonies, which continously increases. As such, any area estimate will quickly go out of date.

Climate: Mostly temperate, yet both tropical areas (The Hash and Mgweni) and arctic areas (the Midlands) abound.

Government and judiciary

Government System: Constitutional Republic

Legal system: federal court system based on English common law; each state has its own unique legal system, of which all but one (the Hash's) is based on English common law; judicial review of legislative acts.

Executive branch: The President is both Chief of State and Head of Government.

Legislative branch: bicameral Congress consists of the Senate (90 seats, one-third are renewed every two years; 2 members are appointed by state legislatures to serve six-year terms) and the House of Representatives (6,000 seats; members are directly elected by popular vote to serve two-year terms)

Judicial branch: Supreme Court (its nine justices are appointed for life on condition of good behavior by the president with confirmation by the Senate); United States Courts of Appeal; United States District Courts; State and County Courts

Illicit drugs: No drugs are illegal in Allanea. Therefore, Allanea is a major producer and exporter (legally or otherwise) of producer of cannabis, marijuana, depressants, heroin, stimulants, hallucinogens, and methamphetamine; Allanea's banking laws also make it a viable money-laundering center.

International relations

Foreign views regarding Allanea are sometimes hostile. The Austar Union officially considers the Allanean government to be a "terrorist organisation". Vrak has refered to the Allanean authorities as "dangerous", "unpredictable" and "criminal". The Dominion considers Allanea to be a "rogue state", and does not recognise the legtimacy of its current government. Equally, the current government of Allanea does not recognise the legitimacy of the DLN.

Allanea has approximately a hundred various allies by virtue of its membership in the GDI, GASN, Sovereign League, and the Extra-Solar Union of States.
