The Allied British Isles was an organisation set up by Simooooo on the 4th day of 2005 to protect regions with British or Irish links from the threat of invasion in gameplay. They were originally composed of ten regions regions with roughly seven hundred nations. On the 26th of March, 2005 , Ireland left the Allied British Isles, and on the 18th of April 2005, the ABI officially ceased to exist.

Closing message

The following message was posted by Simooooo on the old forums of the Allied British Isles:

This has been forseen by most members here but it is with a heavy heart that I feel I must close the alliance know as the Allied British Isles.
There has been much hardship in creating and maintaining this body and I believe that it has reached the end of its useful lifespan. Two seperate factions emerged with competing aims and therefore it is obvious that unity would be a false one. I blame neither for this ending, each has its own legal way of playing the game and that's fine. This alliance was created by meself with the aim of pan-British and Irish regional protection against invading forces but it seems it has changed somewhat from this original aim.

Reason for collapse

From the start, it was always unlikely that this alliance would succeed. It tried to combine the right wing Imperialist regions of The British Empire and Great Britain and Ireland which closely followed the British political system with socialist, anti-Imperialist regions such as USK which follow a continental / American model. The long term rot set in early, but the event that brought the ABI to its close was the massive Battle of Palestine.

In this battle, forces of USK attempted to liberate the then Great Britain and Irish colony of Palestine, which had been captured by an invasion. This sparked the largest NS conflict of recent times. With the GB&I delegate, Refarus, inactive and most likely a spy, GB&I were unable to immediately eject the invading USK and allied forces. Equally, a communications breakdown on the USK side meant that their forces arrived slightly after the update. This meant that a long 24 hours were spent by both sides garnering every possible endorsement they possibly could in order to ensure victory. GB&I to retain her colony, and USK and allies (including the ADN, RLA and other smaller organisations) to stave off an embarrassing defeat at the hands of an 11 man original garisson endorsing an inactive delegate, who were joined by the massive forces of the Union Of Sovereigns.

In the end, the USK and allied forces won, with 100+ endorsements to the GB&I side's 80+ endorsements. Had the USK lost, there would have been a possibility of continuing the ABI alliance although this wasn't the case. USK had already left, and it was likely that one or two of their allies would have followed anyway. What would not have happened was the inevitable GB&I resentment of the defeat and in particular the ABI members (of which there were many) who supported USK's attack on a fellow ABI state. Had the Battle for Palestine emerged with a GB&I victory, ABI could have survived. As it was, the actions of USK (justified or otherwise) smashed the rotten construct once and for all.
