The Federation of Ambrose-Douglas joined NationStates in May of 2007. It joined the region Flying Spaghetti Monster first, then left and created its own region, Ora Immortalis, or The Immortal Region, and then returned to Flying Spaghetti Monster. They joined the NationStates United Nations immediately.

History

Two decades ago, a great war started between the neighboring nations of The Republic of Ambrose and The Constitutional Monarchy of Douglas. The Republic of Ambrose saw The Constitutional Monarchy of Douglas as encroaching on its boarders, and decided to launch a preemptive tactical strike on The Constitutional Monarchy of Douglas' forces. No contact was made between the nations before the strike, and The Constitutional Monarchy of Douglas saw the attack as unprovoked. A retaliatory strike using chemical weapons followed.

The war continued to drag on over the years. Both nations, close to 500 million in population before the war, were both now down under 10 million. Neither Premier Vernon K. Ambrose or King Charles Ambrose III wanted to hear anything to do with peace talks. Their only goal was to utterly and completely destroy their enemy, even if it meant destroying their own country in the process.

This mutual destruction might have occurred, had it not been for Ambrose and Douglas' sons, Edmund Ambrose and Prince James Douglas. They started a series of secret communiques, plotting a way to end this war. After each realized that the other would be in power should their fathers die, Edmund being second in line in the governmental succession of his country, and James being next in line for the throne in his, the son's made a pact to kill their fathers, at the exact same time, making it look like the opposing nation's military had carried the act out.

On October 13th, the sons put their plan into action. Edmund Ambrose placed a Douglas-made bomb in his father's chambers, while James Douglas sighted his father with a Ambrose-made sniper rifle with Ambrose ammunition. The plan went without a hitch. Both of their fathers were killed, and, within the hour, both sons were now leaders of their respective countries. By noon of the next day, October 14th, the war between The Republic of Ambrose and The Constitutional Monarchy or Douglas was over.

Over the next year, both of the new leaders worked on a friendship pact to never attack each other again, and to combine their two severely weakened nations under one flag. Nearly one year later, on October 1st, the Federation of Ambrose-Douglas was born. A system of government was put into place where the President serves a life term, either until he dies or until he retires. The Premier is next in line for the Presidency, is elected by the people, and carries out most of the duties within the country, while the President is more responsible for the international issues. The Ambassador to the United Nations is third in line. This person is appointed by the President. Other positions in the line of succession follow. Edmund Ambrose was the first president of Ambrose-Douglas, while his son, Justin M. Ambrose, was elected by the populace as Premier. James Douglas was appointed as Ambassador to Foreign Nations.

The year following this historic peace deal and nation combining, a terrible plague of disease struck the Federation of Ambrose-Douglas. Its health care system still in shambles following the Epic War, the population dwindled to below 5 million. Even the leaders of the nation were not immune from the disease, as it claimed the life of both Edmund Ambrose as well as James Douglas. Most of the population that was left after the disease had finally stopped was the younger 18-25 population, strongest and most able to fight off the effects of the disease. Justin M. Ambrose became president, as the constitution dictated, and Christopher Benson was elected Premier, the first non-Ambrose/Douglas family member to hold that high a position. Benjamin J. Douglas was appointed in his father's place as Ambassador to Foreign Nations, later changed to Ambassador to the United Nations when Ambrose-Douglas joined the U.N.
