Amerigo is a nation that has been enshrined in NS history for both its role in the Amerigan Slaver War and the player's brief modship.
Government
The government of Amerigo, having undergone many changes over the years, is currently a mix of psuedo-Catholic theocracy and Marxism. All property is owned by the government and all money can be siezed by the government, hence the 100% tax rate. However this is only done in times of emergency. The government consists of only two branches: the executive and the judicial. The executive branch is controlled by The High Delegate, an elected dictator. When a dictator dies, the people, in accordance with universal manhood suffrage, elect a new dictator for life. There are several "chiefs" under the High Delegate. The High Delegate appoints several canidates for each position (Defense, Interior, Propaganda, Foreign Affairs, Entertainment, Religion, Treasury, Offense, Agriculture, Justice, Industry and whatever departments he sees fit to be created). Through universal manhood suffrage one out of the candidates is elected to head each department. The justice system contains two courts, the Civil Justice Court and the Tribunal of Faith. Otherwise the judicial branch is responsible only for interpreting already written laws in the Liberty Articles Proclamation of the Seccesionary Revolution.
History
Amerigo first seceded from New Zealand. Then it splintered into many republics that once dominated Danger Island; however all these were eventually assimilated and Danger Island and extensive territories outside it are purely under Amerigan control. When Amerigo decided to sell its slaves (once part of the country's economy and government) the Amerigan Slaver War. Although Amerigo was essentially defeated it made no actual peace terms because the government went into hiding and was never seen again. Then Amerigo pursued a policy of isolationism and communistic and Catholic policies. It was once the High Inquizitor in the Catholic Allaince which eventually fell apart.
Later on, it joined the Sardukar Confederacy, though still remaining on Danger Island.
Military
Although Amerigo essentially was devasated in the Amerigan conflict it rebuilt its military extensively... manufacturing its own tanks and submarines nad buying almost everything else from other source. It eventually developed nuclear arms (had a few during Amerigan War) and soon massed a huge arsenal, which it has today.
People and Landscape
The people are very diverse, but most have Italian and New Zealand roots. Amerigo was decimated during the Amerigan war and never regained its beuty. It is now an industrial wasteland and its beaches are highly hazardous due to the detonation of a small nuclear device in its waters (during the blockade) Amerigan culture is essentially very discreet faithful and isolationist. Very much like an extremist Muslim state today only highly polluted industrial and Catholic communist.
