Background

Founded before March 2003. The region was re-founded by Xenoxia on February 3 2004. For a long period, Anime lagged behind its sister region, the Alliance of Anime Nations in population and activity. It was only in late 2004, that the region became the largest Anime-related region due to recruitment efforts by early natives and the concurrent decline of AoAN.

Otakopia was the longest-serving delegate the region ever had, being elected to office on May 31 2004; he served over 350 days in office, until he mysteriously resigned. He was replaced on July 2005 by Talent, a popular delegate until her demise some time in September. Planeswalkers became her replacement and was an active leader in his early delegateship. However, his term was soon overcome with difficulties. In February 2006, the region became well known as the battlefield of the largest, and longest, raider siege in recent memory. The Great Invasion was led by Blades of Conquest, and the point man was Tooonarmi. It was quickly noticed by two natives, who raised the alarm, and shortly afterwards defenders led by 10000 Islands began arriving in droves. At the beginning of the invasion, Planeswalkers had been asleep for seven days. He woke up thrice: once to password-protect the region; once to remove the password-protection; and the third time to kick-out half of the invaders. This confounded everyone, and ultimately led to the Game Admin himself, SalusaSecondus, entering the region in a show of force. The invasion saw campaigning from Silentvoice, a respected member of the region, to become the anti-invader delegate. This led to accusations from raiders that the defenders were themselves becoming raiders: a charge which all the defenders robustly defended against. After eight days and nights, the siege of Anime was broken. Silentvoice shortly afterwards became delegate, and imposed heavy security on the region. Planeswalkers, upon seeing this, forlornly lamented the end of his reign. Over eleven days later, Silentvoice kept his campaign pledge and resigned from the delegacy, paving the way for new elections. On April 8 2006, Otakopia won the election, and was officially sworn in as new Delegate of the region.

For a while, Silentvoice tried to push for wide-ranging reforms in the region's governance, and floated the idea of re-founding the region with an elected member to prevent a recurrance of the invasion. Among other changes he introduced were a new forum, a Constitution and Bill of rights, voting regulations, and new elected positions. However, the delegate Otakopia did not seem eager to pursue these changes. The invasion had become a distant memory and Otakopia became content to rule in idle passivity. Disappointed, Silentvoice proclaimed the reforms a failure and stepped down as Interior Minister. Many old guards such as Kaede Nagase, Ruri Hoshino and Teeowana, also slipped into inactivity. Subsequently, regional activity continue to wane under Otakopia's delegateship and the population dropped below 50. In September to October 2006, the region again became the playground of spammers (a long-term anti-anime spamming campaign began in 2004). Natives looked to the delegate for action but none was forthcoming.

General disappointment with Otakopia's inactivity led to calls for his removal from Paragus and Office Supplies. This ultimately led to the appointment of Mew Mew Power as delegate on Nov 2 2006, ending Otakopia's second term of 231 days in office.

In February 2007, the natives continued to express dissapointment with the status quo, and voted for region refounding. A tripartite power-sharing arrangement was agreed upon, and Silentvoice, Sygma and Office Supplies were voted the new founders-in-waiting. Sygma subsequently replaced Mew Mew Power as Delegate after heavy campaigning. The region now is currently ontrack to being refounded. On March 16 2007, Sygma imposed a hidden password on the region and asked all non-essential nations to depart to the fallback region (or dark mirror-universe) of Emina. The population subsequently dropped from 85 nations quickly, with Rezo and Hanaukyo being the two largest and longest-standing residents of the region to lead the exodus. On April 6 2007, the population fell to 10 nations. On April 9 2007, the population fell to just 2 nations: Silentvoice II and Sygma.

When the time came for the re-founding to take place, Anime was taken from us by "The Empire of Wendy Earhart".

The Following is a statement from Silentvoice:

I'll give a summary of events since March, for the interest of those who like to know what happened.

As many of you already know, we had a discussion about refounding early this year and held a vote on the issue. The results came back overwhelmingly in favor. Another poll was taken to elect would-be founders. After this was settled, the process began with Sygma canvassing endorsements to replace Mew Mew as delegate. With the delegateship in hand, he had to wait to accumulate influence, and then password the region. Passwording was an essential step of the process to ensure no new nations enter while we empty the region. Around this time, loyal residents began moving to Emina, our temporary region.

We had some kinks here and there but the process went smoothly enough. Some time in March, we were ready to refound. Sygma and myself were the last 2 nations to leave the old Anime founded by Xenoxia. From 1am to 3am EST, we kept trying to refound, but were beaten to the button by Wendy Earhart, a nation unknown to us.

We later discovered Wendy was a nation sent by The British Empire (TBE). His mission was to steal the region for their "Empire". Unfortunately for us, he succeeded by mere seconds. The changed World Factbook Entry read "Anime is now a colony of The British Empire, here to bring light to savage natives".

We were angry at this unprovoked attack, but tried to reason with these invader-occupiers. For several days, Wendy would not listen. Kaede Nagase later made a deal with TBE leaders. Unwillingly Wendy listend to his masters. He left the region unannounced without informing any of us. Luckily, I noticed this and stayed up the entire night to try my luck at the refound button. I gave up around 5am when I realize the region had already updated even *before* he left the region.

What followed was another round of diplomatic exchange. This time, Wendy informed us in advance of the time/date he was going to leave. Me and Office stayed up to wait. Wendy turned up an hour late, by the time he left, the region had ALREADY updated. Now ---when a region has already updated, it cannot be refounded until the next day. In essence, on BOTH occasions, he gave us no chance of succeeding by leaving AFTER the region has updated.

We communicated to Wendy the importance of leaving the region before it updates, but he stopped replying to us. From his actions, it was clear that he was intend to rule Anime as its "governor". We were told to either accept foreign rule or live in exile.

We picked exile and waited. I personally swore that however long it took, I will wait to right this wrong.

It turned out that we didn't have to wait too long. Wendy expired 2 months later, and immediately upon expiry, TBE sent another 6 UN nations to succeed him (Horse Burgers, Country Lane, Losna, PyrodFox, Aetheronian Republics, Beethovens 5th). It was clear that TBE wanted to continue to rule Anime even after "Wendy" has expired. Unbeknownst to them, I was watching this region too. With help from defenders from 10000 Islands, I gained the delegateship on day 3 and ejected all 5 TBE nations.

I wanted to proceed with refounding but could not because 1) There were 2 nations --Tifa-Lockheart and Buso Renkin whom refused to leave; and 2) Office and Sygma were not contactable.

We waited for two more days during which, Tifa-Lockheart contineud to defy telegrams asking her to leave, and TBE sent another 2 nations to counter-invade.

The day before yesterday (5 June), they resurrected Wendy Earhart. it was the same day I managed to get hold of Office and DHaran. We made a plan to refound the next day. Last night (6 June), all 3 of us stayed up to complete the task. And with the grace of the Anime Godesses, we were successful.

So it ends, our 3 months living in exile.
