The Catherine States of Annie Worshippers (Latin: Anni Hymenaeos) is an island nation in the Confederacy of Green Waves archipelago. The climate varies from calm and stormy along the coast to frigid and calm in the mountains.

History

At the time foreigners first arrived in the area around 1500, Annie Worshippers was inhabited by indigenous Irish tribes. The first foreigners to on the island were the English, establishing colonies at Kilmarty, Sonnenbray, and Enderling. Upon the Irish revolt of 1734, many English fled the island, selling their property to Jewish speculators. Jewish influence rose in the island, and eventually the parliamentary seat of government changed hands. Waves of Afro-American and Hispanic immigrants in the 1960s changed the demography and the political structure once again.

Politics

Legislative power rests in the unicameral Anniean parliament, the National Collective, with 54 members chosen on the basis of proportional representation from national lists named by the political parties. An additional 13 members are elected by regional soviets at the same time as the National Collective.

Executive authority is exercised by the chairperson, who appoints and supervises the prime minister and other ministers. The chairperson is not directly elected; each party presenting a slate of candidates for the collective must designate in advance a leader who will become chairperson if that party receives the largest number of votes. Any dissolution of the collective and election of a new collective can lead to a change in the collective majority and consequently a change in the chair.

The highest judicial body is the Judicum Anni, headed by a chancellor of the judiciary. The second level is the Judicum Caterina, presided over by a chief justice. The chancellor and the chief justice are appointed by the chairperson.

Annie Worshippers is a full and participating founder-member of the Emigrant Community (EMICOM), the headquarters of which is in located in Antaeus.

Geography

Annie Worshippers is primarily situated on a single island, shaped like the head of a unicorn facing south. Therefore, the island's name is Shugpea, the Annian word for unicorn. Shugpea is quite densely inhabited, with most of the population living on the habitable mountains to the north. These mountains are dotted by many picturesque trees, ponds, gorges, and fjords. The southern desert coasts are sandy and salty, and are sparsely habited by migrant lemon farmers of Afro-American or Hispanic origin.

Economy

The main industries in Annie Worshippers are bauxite mining, gold mining, lemon harvesting, Oxfama sugar, timber, shrimp and minerals. The lemon industry, which accounts for 28% of all export earnings, is largely run by Storlen which employs more people than any other industry. Many industries have a large foreign investment. The mineral industry, for example, is heavily invested in by the Takyemily company Shiruken no Banzai and the The Icy Angel Yee LLC has a large stake in the logging industry.

The Anniean economy has exhibited moderate economic growth since 1999, based on an expansion in the agricultural and mining sectors, a more favourable atmosphere for business initiatives, a more realistic exchange rate, fairly low inflation, and the continued support of international organisations. Chronic problems include a shortage of skilled labour and a deficient infrastructure. The government is juggling a sizable external debt against the urgent need for expanded public investment. Low prices for key mining and agricultural commodities combined with troubles in the bauxite and lemon industries threaten the government's already tenuous fiscal position and dim prospects for the future.

Demography

The population of 883 million is heavily diverse. Annie-Saxons make up 44% of the population, including mixed Irish, English, Dutch, and German-Swedes. Annie-Jews make up 32%, primarily Jews of African, Asian, and South American origin. The remaining 26% are of Afro-American and Hispanic origin, primarily from inner-city regions of the former United States.

The state religion in Annie Worshippers is Annie Worship. Although the tenets of this philosophically-based faith are quite minimal, those found in defiance of the religion are often publicly ostracized and executed by devout practitioners.

Emigration remains a huge issue in Annie Worshippers, estimated at over 1 billion. Fortunately, the government devotes much of its energy to the welfare of these citizens, whom it terms as 'elect proselytizers.'

Culture

Some indigenous festivals in Annie Worshippers include:

-Longhairakalinh (Longhair)
-Dubinssequinae (Dubs)
-Harlotagniaccighn (Harlot)
-Hipakinkipopy (Hippy)

Kilmarty is the center of the Kilmarty Film Festival, which gives a prestigious award to every year's highest budget, d-grade movie.

Oxfama is home to the Hipakinkipopy (Hippy) festival, which celebrates the folk music of the indigenous Irish peoples.

The major sport in Annie Worshippers is ballet, a component of the storytelling nature of Annie Worship. The famous Antaeus School instructs millions of students each year from around the world.

Military

In a landmark 1999 resolution, Chairwoman Ava Shider dismantled the Anniean military in accordance with what she termed as her nation's 'peaceful nature.' Since then, international peacekeeping forces have kept the nation properly defended and under control. The citizens of Annie Worshippers have heavily debated whether their country should continue to relinquish their military independence.
