The Antarctic Ocean Colony is a Kiravian colony in the Antarctic Ocean on a group of rocky islands.
History
The islands of the AAC were discovered by Kiravian explorer Seirm Novân. After he returned to Kiravia, a sudden interest was aroused in the far-off Antarctic Ocean. A Colonial Transport disembarked from Tolôn, and reached the rocky archipelago in eight months. The settlers built Saar-Frëmár, the capital, and the borough of Frigïd. In later months, the other islands sported small villages. So far, the national livelihood was subsistence fishing, and growing freeze-resistant bacteria for Kiravian biotechnology. The Empire was losing interest in the unproductive colony, as were the Kergülan thalassocrats that controlled the provincial shipping. In face of being abandoned or expatriated, the citizens pooled rescources to buy mining ships and equipment, and banded together to extract oceanic minerals. They struck gold. Well, titanium and basalt, really. The new economy was born. With revenue from mining, underwater settlements were built, as well as rafts. A fleet was built to transport materials and people around the area. new industries, like commercial fishing, polar aquaculture, and ice exporting developed. A new province was born.
