The Antarctic Polar Bear or Ursus maritimus meridianus is a native species of Antartica A number of nations imported them from the northern populations of polar bears Over time these once separate northern populations intermixed and adapted to the Antarctic climate and soon a new subspecies was formed. Antarctic Polar bears grow larger than even the Kodiak Bear and adult males have been known to grow over to 13 feet tall and 2,000lbs. The population has skyrocketed despite rampant human hunting and they remain a problem in the region to this day.
