The Antarctic Polar Bear or Ursus maritimus meridianus is a native species of Antarctica A number of nations imported them from the northern populations of polar bears Over time these introduced species of once separate northern populations intermixed with eachoter and adapted to the Antarctic climate to create a new subspecies. Antarctic Polar bears grow larger than even the Kodiak Bear and adult males have been known to grow over to 13 feet tall and 2,000lbs. The population has skyrocketed despite rampant human hunting and they remain a problem in the region to this day.
