Aoleio

The Ultra-Cool Awesomeocracy of Aoleio is a huge, barren wasteland in the heart of the Volostrian continent. Once though of as an inhospitable desert, Aoleio has managed to develop an impressive service-based economy due to its favorable location along trade routes, laissez-faire policies, and top-notch corporate propaganda. Political control fluctuates between a democratically-elected parliament and complete anarchy; corporations maintain their own fearsome street-armies and appoint nominal, ineffective heads-of-state through contract bidding. "National identity" as such is only maintained through the diligent efforts of savvy advertising executives and sitcoms. Drugs are legal and used to raise funds for the paramilitary factions. The leading cause of death is genital herpes. Aoleio's most devastating internal conflict so far was a thirty-year civil war between Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
