Futsal was anything but a major sport in Ariddia when the first international Futsal Tournament was announced, and the national team was put together hastily to take part. As Ariddia progressed undefeated through the competition, however, "futsal fervour" rose throughout the country, and "Les Rouges" went on to win the Cup.

Just like the national football team, Ariddia’s futsal players perform the ulek at the beginning of every match.

Players

Paradoxically, in a team seemingly focused on strategies of attack, the most skilled, experienced and energetic player is rumoured to be the team captain, Erikson. Sole defender in a 3-1 formation, she will have the complex task of keeping up to three or four opponents away from the Ariddian end of the field. A task made all the more challenging by the fact that the goalkeeper (Lo) and Erikson’s substitute (Kabei) are both young and inexperienced.

Tournaments

There has been only one international tournament so far, which Ariddia won, to the surprise and delight of fans and players alike. At the close of the first Tournament, Ariddia was the only nation not only to be undefeated, but to have won all its matches, with an astonishing seven wins, no draws and no defeats. Ariddia promptly expressed an interest in defending its title in a second edition of the Tournament.
