Overview
The Artemis class was the third class of destroyer designed by Bryn Shander, and was designed to suppliment the Cassandra class destroyers that had been designed at the same time. While the Cassandras packed relatively heavy megaparticle batteries, the Artemis was built around torpedo warfare to add valuable firepower to a battlefleet. Like Bryn Shander's other second generation ships, the Artemis class destroyers were all upgraded several times over their lifetime, with systems such as shields and hyperdrives added to the pre-FTL era warships.
As with the Cassandra class destroyer that they were paired with, 216 Artemis class destroyers were produced over the lifetime of the design.
