The Asgarnian Naval Force, also known as the ANF or Asgarnian Navy, is a branch of the Asgarnian Armed Forces responsible for naval warfare. Its stated mission is to "protect the seas of the world from the world". The Asgarnian Naval Force currently has 56,581,118 personnel, making it one of the largest navies in existance. It has over 11,000 combat-ready vessels, with another 807 on standby that can be activated within two months, and 15,000 various landing vessels. It also has more than 1,700,000 aircraft. The ANF was created in the 1600's to combat rampant pirating activites, and has since morphed into a massive force. The Asgarnian Naval Force can deploy to any part of the globe within 72 hours. It is considered a blue-water navy.

History

Origins

The Asgarnian Naval Force was concieved in 1623 when cargo ships began losing their valuable loads to pirates off of the coast of what is now Ruppio Island. The newly-formed group was equipped with two large sloops, which were equipped with many large cannons. The losses were still high, so from the pirate ships destroyed, any money found was scavenged. The money went straight into the construction of new ships. By 1694, there were 10 ships in the navy.

Intermediate Phase

Between 1700 and 1899, there were relatively few uses for the navy. It came close to disbandment in 1712, but remained by cutting the aging sloop fleet from 10 to 6, with four sold to other navies in the region. However, due to the new crop being planted, cotton, great income was recieved. The nation was able to maintain a fleet of ironclad warships to protect the new crop being transported around the world. In this intermediate phase, the first Asgarnian naval vessel circumnavigated the globe, A.N.S. Moore. The intermediate phase did not see much combat, but training remained constant. The Asgarnian Navy was regarded as one of the best trained navies on earth due to the constant training and drills.

20th Century

In the 20th century, great modernizations were made in the naval fleet. First, diesel or oil powered vessels were introduced. The first non-steam vessel, A.N.S. Crumpville, was built in 1910. The vessel was powered by 8 oil engines. Modernizations kept occuring, and finally, in 1962, the first Asgarnian nuclear powered vessel, A.N.S. Fresco, was built. It sailed the world non-stop for six years before refueling was necessary. This marked a major turning point for the Asgarnian Naval Force. New weapons were introduced, such as the VLS, Tomahawk missiles, Exocet missiles, and more powerful guns. By 1999, the ANF had secured a place on the world stage.

Today and Tomorrow

In 2007, the first Asgarnian naval vessel equipped with a railgun set sail. This, too, marked a major milestone for the ANF. It is predicted that in 10 years, the ANF will be one of the last remaining super navies. With current technology like the Adobe Class supercarrier and the Yamato II Class Battleship; the ANF is holding steady its place on the world stage.

Wartime Usage

The ANF has been used in every major conflict that Asgarnieu has entered in recent times. Most recently, a regional conflict involving several nations within the 10000 Islands broke out, prompting Asgarnieu to take a defensive role and protect another nation. The Navy was used to a great extent, and the meer presence of a few carriers and super battleships calmed things down considerably.

Peacetime Usage

ANF Fleets regularly circumnavigate the world and perform patrols of Asgarnian territory. The ANF is also used in anti-piracy activites in international waters and often escorts civilian vessels through pirate-heavy waters. The ANF also protects shipping lanes and searches for mines that may pose a threat to military and civilian vessels in international waters.

Organization

The ANF is divided into several areas of command. Each is commanded by a naval General 4-S.

  • Naval Air Forces Command
  • Surface Combat Command
  • Sub-surface Combat Command
  • Military Sealift Command

Relationships with other Asgarnian Armed Forces Branches

The Asgarnian Naval Force works closely with the Asgarnian Marines and the Asgarnian Coastal Defense Force. No matter the ship, there is always some sort of Marine group aboard the vessel.

Funding

The ANF recieves 64% of total military budget spending, and is thusly the most well-funded branch of service in the AAFCOM.

Due to the extreme amount of money used by the ANF, controversy and jealousness originating in other branches of service exist; creating much tension between branches.

Current Projects

The ANF is currently holding a competition for a prototype battle island for future use. Should the ANF see a design it likes, it will order between 1-3 for naval use.

The ANF is also working on a new anti-supercapital ship missile with a proton warhead; as well as a ship with multiple railcannons.

The ANF operates several naval installations, many are coastally based, but several air stations are based inland.

</div>

The Fleet Air Arm of the Asgarnian Naval Force is the component that operates fixed and rotary-wing aircraft for combat service in the roles of fighter, bomber, anti-submarine, jamming, and rescue. While having a small list of aircraft, all of the aircraft are multi-role, to fit a wide range of missions. Each has its own specific combat purpose, and most have multiple variants in service. This is the current list of Asgarnian Naval aircraft.

Naval Forces Weapon

The Naval Forces Weapon Project (NFWP-II) was designed to create a battle rifle to arm sailors. The product is the AN-17 Rifle. It is permanently silenced, equipped with a 2x scope, armed with a M-203, and has a flashlight. It is designed to give sailors that were stranded a chance of survival. It is also the primary fighting weapon of the Asgarnian Naval Infantry, which is a component of the Navy that fights like regular soliders.
