The Ashtonbury Brigade is a volunteer organisation of varied legality based mostly in Allanea. While modeled loosely on Rumbiak Brigade operations, the group is much more diverse and ruthless in its scope.

The ideology of the Brigade is mostly based upon the usual ideas of laissez-faire capitalism and Kipling-style colonialism. Brigade volunteers operate in the Chimaean-controlled areas of Knootian Colombia, taking on mission that the Chimaean government does not wish to take upon itself, such as heavy-duty search-and-destroy missions and attacks on villages. Rumour has it that the Ashtonbury Brigade also maintains a network of agents in Iansisle, however this is as yet unconfirmed.

The Brigade is named after William Ashtonbury, the man who killed Markus Rumbiak, an while so far Ashtonbury has no actual link to the brigade, he has been awarded the title of Brigadier-General within the unit.

The organisation is de-facto commanded by a group of people known as ‘Colonels’ each responsible for one area of operation. For example, a Colonel responsible for operations on the American continent would be known as the American Colonel, while a Colonel responsible for operations in Iansisle and Gallaga would be known as the Iansisle Colonel (naturally, the Brigade is opposed to Gallagan independence).

Mostly, the Brigade exploits the fact that Allanea’s government is prohibited from regulating the trade in conventional arms, and therefore purchases it’s arms and explosives in Allanea, though funds are known to have been procured from other sources.
