Overview

Every Nation can Vote

After a suggestion first mentioned during the Delegate election where Lamoni defeated Starblaydia's Benjamin Mackey in a two-horse race for the Delegate position, all nations of Atlantian Oceania are allowed to vote in the Regional Forums on UN Resolutions, and the delegate then votes according to the opinion of the entire region (where interested), not just the UN Members.

Delegate Elections

Instead of the tit-for-tat endoresments and political backstabbing that can be brought about within the confines of NS's endorsement system itself, AO holds elections for its delegates. During the election, the candidates submit their campaigns threads and undertake discussions with any interested nations as to why they should be elected as Delegate. Once a winner has been declared, UN members within the Region are required to endorse the winner, no matter who they voted for in the election itself.

This was first started after the previous UN Delegate, Tachbe was 'glassed' (destroyed) by AO nations, unhappy with Tachbe's general performance. The subsequent election provided a host of new nations to Atlantian Oceania, including Lamoni, Ainorpisp and Marturia.

Marturia

The heavilly pro-communist nation of Marturia arrived in the region for the first elections and proceeded to question each campaigner on their views around pro-socialist issues. Upon finding he was not winning a majority of the votes, Marturia promptly departed citing 'favouritism' for the nations with longer-standing in AO. The fact that there were no pro-socialist nations in AO at the time to vote for him appears to have espaced his vision.

Due to Lamoni being offline for a number of days, a resolution was not voted on by the Delegate. This caused Abattoir to call for an impeachment of Lamoni as he had not carried out his duty. Bettia Voting History

Background

After a number of resolutions weren't put up for the regional vote by the UN delegate from Abattoir, Lamoni's representative called for fresh elections. In the two-horse race that followed, the Bettian delegate Mrs Anisah Hopkins was elected as the new regional delegate to the UN.

As usual, regional votes are taken on all resolutions put before the UN. In addition, a number of the better proposals are also put to the members of AO for possible endorsement.

If no consensus is reached on a proposal, the delegate will not endorse it.

If no consensus is reached on a resolution, the delegate will generally abstain from voting unless that resolution was previously voted on as a proposal. In which case, the result from the proposal vote will be used as a casting vote.

Mrs. Anisah Hopkins regretfully resigned her position recently, and elections are currently underway to chose her replacement.
