Atopian Naval Service

Formation
Following the seizure of a large sector of Die Boerstaat by the Pact of Iron, and shortly afterwards the creation of the Stakhanograd colony in Laquatia, it was decided by the Atopian Military Command that Atopiana now required a navy. The Atopian Naval Service was formed from a combination of volunteers from other arms of service, and a large recruitment drive amongst Future Strength and other citizenry.
The Naval Service is very much the junior service, and has suffered more than its fair share of defeats. Its inexperience and small size counted against it in its first fleet action, which resulted in the loss of 640 vessels during the landing of Second Army during the Iragian Intervention. To the credit of those involved, the Second Army and its accompanying logistical units were landed with few casualties before a massive missile strike obliterated the remaining vessels.
Order of Battle
There are five Carrier Battlegroups which make up the Atopian Naval Service. These each consist of two Orel Ul'yanovsk-class carriers; four Kuznetsov-class carriers; three Kirov-class battlecruisers; three Slava-class missile cruisers; 10 Neustrashimy-class anti-submarine warfare frigates; 20 Sovremenny-class destroyers; 20 Udaloy-class anti-submarine warfare destroyers; 40 Ivan-Rogov-class transports and 80 Pomornik-class hovercraft landing vessels.
Each Battlegroup is home to a division of Marines with their associated equipment, in addition to its own organic air cover in the form of the Atopian Naval Air Force.

Each Ulyanovsk-class carrier is home to some sixty-four aircraft, with room for six more, split as follows:
30x MiG-29K 'Fulcrum-D'
10x Su-39 'Frogfoot'
4x Yak-44 radar picket aircraft
20x Ka-27 'Helix A' ASW helicopters
In addition, the Kuznetsovs hold 50 aeroplanes, as follows:
12 x Su-38MP VTOL aircraft
2 x Yak-44
24 x Ka-27 helicopters
Other vessels are home to a mix of helicopters of varying types, from utility to mine-laying helicopters. The ANAF is designed to provide air cover for the Battlegroups, and some limited air-ground interdiction capability for ship-shore operations.
Atopian Marines
There are five divisions of Atopian Marines, equipped as their mechanised infantry counterparts. These divisions are assigned to the five Carrier Battlegroups which continuously patrol both international and Atopian waters, and usually provide an additional division of infantry during any offensive deployment. They are also capable of undertaking offensive operations by themeslves, and are tasked with the seizure of enemy ports.
