The Attack Landing Vehicle - ALV or ALV-1 is a specially-designed armored personnel carrier designed to suppliment marine landing forces.

The ALV is designed to be launched from ships far beyond visual range from the shore to stealthily land on beaches and offload a compliment of marines and/or naval infantry; whilst keeping up with more powerful vehicles, such as the TDK-28 or LY3A2.

Background

In 2000, the elderly LV-1 landing vehicle was beginning to show its age. Commonality issues between vehicles and scarcity of parts became in issue, prompting AAFCOM to design a new vehicle that would replace the LV-1.

Design Features

The ALV-1 features a movable actuated bow flap that aids in the transition between road/land and sea motility.

Another key design feature is the vehicle's mobility. It was designed to be airlifted by the MV-87, sealifted, or transported by the LCAC-class of landing vessels.

The vehicle features a cargo bay with a rear door that cannot be opened whilst the vehicle is travelling on water. The cargo bay can hold 17 fully armed troops.
