The People

Auxillians are, by all accounts, human, but there are several interesting traits peculiar to Auxillian natives. They are long lived, their lives spanning some three hundred years on the average, though several of the lines of kings have been over 500 years old. Tall, noble, and fair skinned; they are rumored to have elfish, as well as fairy heritage, though none can prove this claim, as elves departed from not here or there long ago. They hold great store by knowledge and have many libraries, and are well versed in the arts, healing, and many crafts. Their metalwork is without peer, and the mines of the north produce limitless amounts of precious stones. They are, however, distrustful of strangers and wary of interference from outsiders. They do not venture far from their own borders, unless to expand them. They are fearless and hardy in battle and war, and are not easily slain by poison or sickness. They have, however the choice at any time, to die peacefully by their own choice, rather than live on until they are witless and aged.

History

Chronologically, the history of Auxillia and its region are reckoned in the three ages: Dark Age, Kings Age, and Present Age. The Dark age alone has its years in reverse, so year 1 of the Dark Age was followed by year 1 of the Kings age. The Kings age lasted 6843 years, so then year 6843 of the Kings age is followed by year 1 of the present Age. Each year has 12 months of 30 days; there are assorted holidays that do not fall into the months. A calendar shall be included later

Dark Age

The Dark Age refers to the time before the crowning of the first king. Auxillian historians have been able to determine that the region, and Auxillia in particular, was settled some four hundred thousand years before this. The people were nomads, who wandered in tribes. They raised cattle, and did not interact with one another. Leading a simple and peaceful life these tribes profited greatly from trade wagons that passed trough their territory, and grew to have many powers of hands and mind, learning greatly from the elves and dwarves. In about year 10 000 of the dark Age came the first evil; the Empire of Oxyland, arisen far to the north-east, came down in a storm and gradually overran the Auxillian tribes one by one. Greatly expanding the city of Aglaril, they used it as a regional headquarters, and a port for their navy. The Auxillian people were subjugated, beaten and enslaved. Their skills were put to work for their enslavers, and in this time they forged the many articles for the emperor of Oxyland, and their fame as craftsmen spread throughout the land. In time, the Empire stretched from far west to far east, and the Auxillians, bowed but not broken, learned many new skills from their oppressors, including the forging of weapons, and military skills. In the year 2500 D.A, a new evil arose. A mighty people, unrecorded, but named only the Nwalmelieion sailed northward in great fleets to challenge the now ailing empire. They were wicked and cruel, and showed no mercy to their victims. Smashing the divided empire, they came to Aglaril, looting and plundering the great city. Burning the libraries and sacrificing its people to their wanton gods, these people were stunted, fierce and warlike, and once they had conquered, forced the people of Auxillia to take part in cruel blood sports. Although they coveted the craft of the Auxillians, they feared them also, knowing they were greater.

The Rise of the Kings The Nwalmelieion had opressed the Auxillians for many years, When, in the year 67 of the dark age, born to one of the tribal leaders was born Túrtinco. Frist son of one of the tribal leaders, he watched his father be ripped apart in one of the bloody games. Vowing to avenge his father, he retreated to the north and founded the refuge of Ilmarien in the mountains
