Bakrani

The bakrani is and always has been the official currency of Bedistan. It was assigned an initial value in the mid-2000s and allowed to float semi-freely, staying mainly within the range of $0.60 to $0.65 American. After a while, it was fixed at $0.62914, which the government at the time claimed would "facilitate trade".

In 2033, the administration of President Oliver Sloas chose to remove government control of the currency's value, which severely destabilized Bedistan's economy for several months as the bakrani suddenly tripled in value, finally coming to rest at a value of around $1.75. The bakrani's value has slowly risen since then, and as of November 2055 it is now worth approximately $1.95.

The symbol for the bakrani is þ, and its three-letter abbreviation is BBK.
