The Beginning

The year was 1986. The Holy Emperor Herald Beauford Wellings, II was faced with a problem. Asgarnieu was struggling economically. Its military and government were broke. The national debt was in the trillions. The Holy Emperor begged Grand Parliment to enact new tax laws to increase the budget to keep Asgarnieu safe from attack. Grand Parliment voted 105-5 in favor of the new laws. They were enacted that day.

The Uprising

Citizens were extremely displeased with the new laws. The Inflation rate was so high, it cost 6,000 Gold Points for a loaf of bread. Many took to incenerating the paper money to stay warm. It was also reported that coin money was used to stun or kill birds to be eaten. Within a matter of days, the citizens began rioting. Millions of citizens traveled to Balkan City. The day was December 1. Thousands of enraged citizens took to the streets with whatever weapons they had lying around. The riots were more than effective, as the military was powerless to stop them. Fires were set in the streets. Cars were tipped over and set on fire. Shops and stores on streets were looted of what was left. The Government Complex was stormed, and the Holy Emperor was captured. He was tortured to the point of death. The citizens took control of the government and military. The country was theirs.

The Aftermath

The rioting ended on December 8. The citizens held free elections and voted in the now President Justin A. Herbert. With several hundred reforms and budget cuts, as well as corporate intervention, the nation was returned to it's former glory within 2 years. Now, a holiday is celebrated in memoriam of the hundreds of thousands killed, as well as the ending of the civil war. Rioting was not confined to just Balkan City. The whole nation was plunged into the civil war. December 8 is the day that it is celebrated.
