Basil Cousteau, psuedonym of Maynard Storgrad, was a famous Costa Bravan poet and author, his poem Glorbling Bindlewurdles Florting Bashedly went on to win an innumerable amount of prestigous awards and acclaim. Along with contemporary Halibet Cloister, he is considered the antithesis of Homer, the most hated man in Costa Bravo.

He was born in Bagnoles in 1895, the fifth of eight children, and attended the renowned Preparatory Academy for the Rich and Prospectively Famous during his youth. He was known to play a mean game of billiards, and went on to win several regional championships prior to starting his career as a writer and poet.

He died in 1979 of leukemia.
