The 2nd Battle of Illesia was the siege during the Alversian Civil War which resulted in a crushing defeat for the Provisionals and the sealing of General Evan Baxtor's name in Alversian history. It was the most bloody battle to date in the civil war and cost the lives of 11,000 soldiers with another 14,500 being wounded. The battle also put the outcome of the Civil War beyond doubt as the Provisional Government lost all heart for battle after this defeat

Background

Following the signing of the Treaty of Golgothalia in 1904, the Alversians could not agree on the type of government Alversia should have. The people and the officers in the ALA all wanted a more democratic system whilst the soldiers and left-wing Politicians of ALA wanted a socialist or communist government. The crisis led to a walkout on 11th June 1904 when over 100 senators left the Senate building and travelled to the north.

Here they declared their own country, the Provisional Government of Alversia, with those in the ALA who supported them becoming the Provisional Army. They held the north with the support of the Swandiali and Frendail nomads. Whilst the Federal Government of Alversia controlled the South of the country with the official Federal Army filled with ex-ALA officers and men. Conflict was inevitable
