The Bedistan Football Association was the professional domestic football league in Bedistan from 2030 to 2043, inclusive.

History

2030-2032

For the first three years of its existence, the BFA consisted of three divisions of twenty clubs each. The bottom three finishers in the First and Second Divisions were relegated to the Second and Third Divisions respectively at the end of each season. The top two finishers in the Second and Third Divisions gained automatic promotion to the next level, while the third through sixth place finishers entered promotion playoffs. The first round of promotion playoffs pitted third against sixth and fourth against fifth in a two-legged knockout; the winners then met in another two-legged knockout, the winner of which was promoted to the higher division.

The first recorded running of the Bedistani Cup was in 2032. The qualifying round featured the top sixteen clubs in each division (48 total) in a single-leg knockout. The winners proceeded to the first round, or group stage, where the 24 teams were divided into eight groups of three. Each team played each other team in its group once, and the top two in each group proceeded to the second round, with a straight one-legged knockout format from there.

2033-2035

In 2033, four Regional Divisions were added below the Third Division. The Southwest, Central, and Northern Regional Divisions each contained twenty clubs like the higher divisions. The Island Regional Division, on the other hand, had only six teams. To compensate, each team played each other six times during the season, thrice at home and thrice away, for a total of thirty matches for each team. Promotion and relegation among the top three divisions remained the same; however, a number of clubs were now relegated from the bottom of the Third Division into the Regional Divisions. Promotion from the Regionals into the Third Division was carried out in such a way that all the Regional Divisions maintained the same number of teams they started with.

No play took place from 2036-2039.

2040-2043

In 2040, the Island Regional Division was expanded from six clubs to eight, and the format of the Bedistani Cup was changed then. Now all 128 clubs were allowed to participate, and the format became a simple seven-round single-elimination knockout competition. In addition, promotion qualifiers were done away with in 2040; now the top three clubs in the Second and Third Divisions automatically promoted.

Unfortunately, internal problems within the BFA caused the dissolution of the league after the 2043 season. The Bedistan Premier League would not pick it up again until 2047.
