Audaces Fortuna Juvat.” – Motto of the Parachute Regiment.

Deus Pascit Corvus.” – Motto of the Raven’s Own Regiment.

Vigilia pretium libertatis.” – Motto of the Utlanning.

Ad Mortem Fidelis.” – Motto of the Queen’s Own Regiment.

The 12th Division is the most deployed and most elite division within the Kingdom’s armed forces.

The 12th is the elite because of its composition. Following a review of the confused deployment of the Combat Assault Groups immediately after the Panmure Incident, and various other deployments around that era, it was decided to scrap the old policy of deploying Special Forces scattered amongst the various commands, and unify them under one central command.

With the circumstances surrounding the death of Matthew XI it was also decided that the Queen’s Own would be retrained into a unit specifically orientated around protecting V.I.P.s in whatever environment it might prove necessary to do so.
The Parachute Regiment was melded into the 12th when the various Airborne divisions were disbanded and their personnel moved to the Marines or Regular Army, it being decided to keep the Regiment as an additional rapid deployment force who were more conventionally orientated than the Utlanning.
While their equipment is light in comparison to the Regular Army’s, the Airborne are far better armed and equipped than the Legio Auxilia, the distinctive ceramo-plastic and commo-helmets of the airborne offering individual troopers the survivability of some armed forces APCs and far better sensors and communications. The Regiment carry the M41 pulse carbine and are deployed with/in M5A1 AFVs.
The Utlanning were the evolution of the Combat Assault Groups into augmented Special Operations personnel, their mission statement heavily orientated towards infiltration, “hearts and minds” and general “behind enemy lines” deployments. The Utlanning are also notable for having been commanded by His Majesty before his succession to the throne. So far there have been no admitted deployments of the augmented Utlanning, but careful observation reports personnel changes and equipment replacement, which suggests there has been some covert usage of the unit. Of the four units making up the 12th Division, the Raven’s Own are the closest to the Regular army in terms of equipment and mission role, being used to spearhead assaults and act as pathfinders, in addition to training without the combat armour that distinguishes His Majesty's army.
However, the Own is a more subtle unit than any given regular army regiment, and is also utilised in the counter-terrorism role, as well as being the regiment where the regular army will field-test various concepts first, for example the deployment of Battle-Psykers within their ranks, as well as the equipping of the Own with Urban Combat Walkers.

Reservist Units

The Kingdom’s Territorial/National Guard equivalent unit is the Legio Auxilia Rex, The Royal Auxiliary Legion.
The Legion are part-time soldiers equipped and fielded as Mechanized Infantry, as opposed to the Armoured Infantry doctrine of the Regular Army’s foot troops. Thus, the Legion’s troops are not equipped with the powered armour, massive calibre weaponry or heavy melee equipment issued to the Regular Army, instead relying on mass rapid fire, traditional calibre, chemical-propellant weaponry as their weapons.
Other equipment is essentially similar to that of the old Kingdom army, pre-modernisation, this meaning that they retain post-Kevlar composite body armour, nemourlon battledress and un-powered melee weaponry. For further uniform information see relevant uniform briefing.
Heavy weapons vary from unit to unit, with everything from battle lasers to converted regular army 60mm AT rifles.
Regardless of the level of individual armament, the Legio do have access to the ultra-modern tanks and artillery in service with the regular forces, albeit without the M5A1 IFVs, these being regarded as too expensive and complex for the Legio Auxilia’s needs. The M5, which is capable of operating in hard vacuum and being dropped from near-orbit, is rather more vehicle than the Legio actually needs, therefore the Legio are equipped with the M4A4, which, while a capable vehicle in it’s own right, is far less complex, easier to mass produce and far cheaper than the M5.
The Legio is also responsible for the maintenance and manning of the SheVa Anti-GravShip Artillery, primarily because the SheVa is intended as a home defence weapon and thus falls under the purview of the Legio, who are after all primarily tasked with home defence. The Legion has access to all other weapon systems in the Kingdom Arsenal, excluding Mammoth tanks and Puffin strategic bombers.
